The Brittish empire invaded Washington Dc in 1812. Before this they would board american ships under the pretext that they were looking to liberate potential slaves. They named the ending of slavery among their motives for their eventual invasion.
No they did not actually do it to stop african bondage (in my opinion) but regardless they did state that this was one of their motives.
