I met this homie from my music class at LMC and he bought some studio stuff, but I don't think it is enough to put out quality albums, what are your thoughts on this set-up?:

Alesis QS8.2 Keyboard
Roland VS-1824CD Digital Recorder
Roland XV-2020 Voice Module & Limiter
AGK C-2000 Condenser Mic

I went and checked out, and it looks good and he records vocals in a closet, but it doesn't seem like enough stuff to put out an album with.
Doesn't he need Protools and a Mac Computer, and a Mixing Board?
I am asking you because you have the cleanest sounding projects around Contra Costa County, everyone elses stuff sounds homemade.

THAT'S WHY HE DIDN'T ASK YOU RIX 'CAUSE YOU RARELY KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKIN' ABOUT. RADIO SHACK???? C'MON NOW.

92 LIVE, YES THAT IS ENOUGH GEAR TO PUT AN ALBUM OUT EXCEPT YOU'LL NEED TO GET A COMPUTER WITH A SEQUENCING PROGRAM OF CHOICE AND MIDI INTERFACE TO ARRANGE AND RECORD THE MUSIC MADE BY THE QS8 ' CAUSE I BELIEVE THERE IS NO BUILT IN SEQUENCER IN THE QS SERIES KEYBOARD. AS FOR A MIXING BOARD THE ROLAND 1824 IS A MIXING BOARD, RECORDER AND EFFECTS GENERATOR IF HE BOUGHT THE EXTRA VS8F-2 EFFECTS BOARD OR BOARDS ALL BUILT IN TO ONE MACHINE AND IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY YOU CAN ACHIEVE GREAT SOUNDING RECORDINGS. IN 1997 I MADE YOC INFLUENCE WITH AN ALESIS QS6, ROLAND 880 WITH ONE EFFECTS BOARD, FREESTYLE SEQUENCING PROGRAM AND A DYNAMIC MIC I RAN THROUGH THE ROLAND MIC MODELING EFFECT IN THE VS8F-2 THAT TRANSFORMS THE MIC INTO VARIOUS DIFFERENT TYPES OF MICS FROM SMALL TO LARGE CONDENSERS OF YOUR CHOICE. IF HE UNDERSTANDS THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PROPER RECORDING AND MIXING AND KNOWS HOW TO GET FULL USE OUT OF HIS EQUIPMENT THEN IT IS VERY POSSIBLE. STAY UP AND GOOD LUCK.

@ Woodie

Thank You Woodie, I will pass on the information, I don't know much if anything about Home Studios so I am glad that you could give your advice. I told him he didn't have enough stuff. Thanks for being down to earth and helping.
Best Of Luck with everything.
