i think he said he used an alesis keyboard, i am pretty sure he said that for the first couple albums, along with other shit.
we have a pretty good alesis keyboard at my church, but i can't figure out how he did the bass for some of the songs, he must have some other shit or just some serious skill. he said he used some type of computer software shit too, but i can't remember the name of it. i think there was a thread about this if you look back, it was a while ago

it's a pretty sick keyboard. i haven't really found a good software that i like so far. but in reality, if you find a good software, you don't need an expensive ass keyboard. from what i hear, the triton keyboards are much better, you can make alot of beats just on what that has to offer. but the alesis is a damn good start. we have one with the weighted keys at church. is that the kind you are getting? i can't remember the model number off hand

cubase doesn't work with my keyboard for some reason. you are supposed to be able to change the sound that you are playing with the keyboard on your comp. with the mouse. but i can only change the sound with my music keyboard, and it is not the sound it says on either the keyboard or the computer, so it is really confusing because you can't find the sound you are looking for. mayne it is just my keyboard though. i have a yamaha so it ain't the greatest

it's just one of them 300 dollar ones, but that was like 5 years ago it cost that much. i bought it from my homies girl for like 40 bucks. i doesn't even have a modulator on it to bend the pitch of the sound. once i get really serious about music, i will buy a better one. i am taking piano lessons right now, so once i get to the point that this one doesn't allow me to do all the things i need to, i will step up and spend some serious money on it, plus my fiancee' plays piano for the church, so she will need one to practice on after i get married anyways.

how much is the one you are planning to buy

You need to have sounds loaded in Cubase too, VST instruments or Soundfonts or something... Look up MIDI online there's a million sites that show you how to do it up. I don't know how to set up MIDI through Cubase cuz I use Cakewalk but it was pretty easy to set up.

oh shit, i didn't know all of that. actually, come to think of it, i had downloaded those things, but couldn't get it to work. i downloaded the program from kazaa, so it didn't have a manual. i haven't messed with it too much. the one i have used was logic audio platinum 4.7, i like that shit, but i can't figure out how to get the beats onto a different format to put on a cd or anything.

i think you can put a beat together on mine, but i am still not sure how to do it. it has a record button, but i can't get the damn thing to record for some reason. the triton keyboard supposedly can put together a beat on it though.

as for the software, it is relatively simple to learn how to do that shit. i found others to be alot easier than that cubase, but it wasn't that hard either.
