Authorities said a 4-year-old boy in Los Angeles was stabbed to death by his mother, who then slit her own wrists and died.
Police spokeswoman Sara Faden said the boy and his 43-year-old mother were discovered Saturday morning at a home in the Garvanza neighborhood northeast of downtown.
Police said the boy had been stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife and the mother's wrists sustained cuts that were apparently self-inflicted.
Both the mother and son were pronounced dead at the scene, and their bodies were removed by coroner's officials Saturday afternoon.
Their names were being withheld pending notification of family.
