WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) -- A woman accused of tossing a Molotov cocktail through the window of her ex-roommate's apartment earlier this month has been arrested.
25-year-old Samantha Scarano was arrested for attempted murder Monday after she was reported to be at a business in the area.
Scarano is accused of setting fire to two apartment units at the 1400 Block of North Sweetzer Avenue March 4.
L.A. County sheriff's deputies say they think the fire was deliberately set by Scarano, the ex-roommate of a woman who lives in the penthouse suite.
According to authorities, the two got into an argument.
They say that prompted Scarano to break a front window and throw an open container of lighter fluid, along with a burning piece of paper, into the apartment.
The fire instantly spread through the apartment and up to the roof of the building.
Firefighters evacuated the apartment building, forcing about 50 people out of their homes as they battled the blaze.
The top-floor unit was completely destroyed. Two apartments below it suffered water damage.
The total damage to the building was estimated at $300,000.
No one was injured in the attack
Scarano's bail has been set at $1.25 million
