WESTMINSTER, Calif. (AP) ―
A 5-year-old girl is in a medically induced coma after her mother allegedly stabbed her and her 3-year-old sister in Southern California.
Officers responding to a 911 call Wednesday morning found the unconscious 5-year-old with stab wounds to the chest inside a Westminster home. In another room they found her 38-year-old mother, Thuy Le, clutching her younger daughter, both covered in blood.
Officer Van Woodson says the family was staying at the home of Le's cousin when the mother allegedly attacked her children and then stabbed herself.
Woodson says the 5-year-old, who was initially on life support, is now in a coma with her chances of survival described as grave.
Le and the other girl are hospitalized in stable condition with multiple slash wounds.
Police are unsure of a motive.
