I think that's really the only option (as crazy as that sounds!).

Look: Samuel Peter is fighting Maskaev in October, Chagaev is fighting Ibragimov in October as well (for a unification bout). Klitschko wants to fight the winner of the Ibragimov/Chagaev but he will have to wait a very long time for that to happen, so he'll need one more fight in the mean time.

Look at the heavyweight division:

Chris Byrd - no reason to have to knock him down again and again and again
Sergei Liakovich - no reason to fight him since he got KO'd by Shannon Briggs and exposed as a shitty boxer.
Shannon Briggs - sucks ass and retired.
Rahman - also sucks ass - fat washed up has-been

Nicolay Valuev - the 7 footer, 350+ pounder. This is a possible option but Klitschko says he wants his next fight to be in the US, so that will likely exclude Valuev. Could get decent coverage and make some money. Relatively safe fight - should be able to pick apart the slow moving Valuev and possibly even be the only person to knock him out.

Holyfield - this is the only real option if he wants to fight in the US and make a big payday. Holyfield has been on a bit of a winning streak (all opponents suck though) and he still has a big following. Lots of people are calling for Holyfield to get another shot at the title. PPV sales would be big.

What you think? Personally I can see it happening, even though Holyfield should have retired years ago and is WAY past his prime. I don't want to see it happen, although I'd probably watch it. I never was a Holyfield fan, but even I would kind of feel bad for him if he takes a real bad beating...

I am a Holyfield fan... give him another shot. Wladimir Klitschko would be a tough as fight though. I say give him one more shot. It will be a damn good fight anyway because Holyfield wants that title.

I dunno. I'd much rather see him get a shot against one of the other belt holders, but not one of the Klitschko's. I suppose theres always a chance Holyfield could put up a fight, but then again there is also a chance of the fight being pretty dangerous for Holyfield. I wouldn't want to see the old man get killed or severely fucked up. Could be bad for the sport. I mean, he lost to Chris Byrd, Larry Donald and KO'd by James Tony.....That was 4-5 years ago. No way he's a better fighter now at 44 then 38/39.

I agree...completely. I'm just not sure about Vladimir...he's never impressed me in a diluted heavyweight division. I understand that's not his fault, and he's done all he can do...but still...

I'd watch it.

It's weird.. because Holyfield has looked better in his last fight then when he fought against James Tony. He looked bad against James Toney... he couldn't even get out of the way of them right hands. But he looked pretty sharp against Saverese a few weeks ago. I hear you 2-0-sixx about the fight being dangerous. But a lot of people thought that before he smashed Tyson. But the Klitschko's are much better than Tyson and that was over 10 years ago. I'd watch it though!

Yeah, I think Holyfield could seriously die. But it'd probably end up going a lot like the Brewster fight with Klistchko.. He'll just get dominated...

It would be nuts to see Holyfield somehow pull off an upset. But I've never liked Holyfield and always thought he was a dirty fighter with his cheap ass "accidental" headbuts.

I don't think Holyfield will get dominated. He knows this is his last shot at a title so he'll show up to fight. I don't know what to say about the headbutts... I've never seen him do it purposely. When fighters duck heads will clash. I find it funny how ever since Tyson started using Holyfield headbutts as an excuse to quit, boxing fans started saying Holyfield headbutts purposely.

But it happens in every Holyfield fight. It's not like it was a one-time thing.. I knew he did that before the Tyson fight.
