wirless network question

i got a unsecrued wirless network where im at right now but i just cant seem to connect to it what would be the problem it got 3 bars and everything

You may be too far away. I use NetStumbler: Download here.

You can see how close you are to any signals.

if you are close enough and it still doesnt' work, try this...go to the Control Panel, then open Network Connections. Right Click on the wireless network icon and select repair. This will try to fix the connection for you. After you do that , right click on the wireless icon again and select status to verify you are connected you should see the Activity window and it shows you how many packets are being sent and how many are being recieved. Recieved shouldn't be zero.

If there are other people using the same connection , that could prevent you from connecting too. I have noticed that with mines

also. go to the command prompt. Start>Run> type CMD. when the command prompt window opens. type this: ipconfig /all make sure there is a space after ipconfig. You should see info about your network and it's connections. what does the one for your wireless card say?

Try shutting down your computer, and then unplug your router. PLug the router back in and wait about a minute for it to flash its lights. Now restart your computer.

What kind of router are you using?

Also go into CMD like Doberman said, try typing:

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

ok i tryed that...like when i go to connect it just says looking for the network or whatever and it wont connect but it has 3 bars......and im using netstumbler but i quite dont know how to use it...
