Here's my situation. I got a virus on my computer so bad, that I restored Windows to get it off. My user name is password protected and my files cant be accessed with no other name but mines. So, when I restored it, the name is still there with the documents in it. Thing is, I cant access the folder because of the fact that I cant get into it from another name. Its not really no important documents in there, but since its still there (which I didnt expect it to be), I wanna get a couple of things out of there. So, can anybody help me out?

Sounds like you didn't do a clean install of XP, so most likely your infected file is still there. But if you still want access, try creating a user with the same username and password as before, might work.

I had to do the same thing not too long ago. Make sure you choose the "destructive" recover options where it clears your Harddrive of all new folders and restores all factory files and drives..

Quick fix for that...When your pc goes through POST *when you first turn it on* tap f8 Periodically and you will come to a screen that has boot options Safe- Command Prompt Safe- With Networking. Choose Safe with Networking. You computer will start with only the essentials to operate thats it. You will notice you have a few usernames Administrator/Yours/Guest*if you still have this enabled* Choose Administrator. Go to Start/Control Panel/User Accounts From here you can remove the password to your previously locked account. Hope this helps

O jeah, Don't know how computer literate you are but when you do your clean install *highly Recommended* (what kind of virus do you have) Format your harddrive manually. Put in your CD click Clean install let it boot, boot from CD, Install *it will say you have another OS on the partition* Select delete this will format your harddrive. It will restart and just follow the instructions. Thats what i can remember off hand. It might not go just like that but you will have an idea how to do it.
