As a Tier II NT Engineer (my official title) at Hewlett Packard, I bear witness to this trend first hand. In recent times (the last two years or so) I've had to watch many collegues take the walk of shame, pink slips in hand, out these doors just outside my cubicle. And as more and more of these men and women go "offline", I find myself communicating with their replacements, overseas. It sux. It brings down morale and incites paranoia en masse. And to think, I was sitting here contemplating going DBA with some Oracle certifications. Then I read this article and the two chief villians are my current employers and another I was considering.

I worked at DQ for like a hot second, but when I was there all the cashier up front had to do was give the "code" and your food was fucked. Dana used to stick the buns down her draws and wipe her ass with them. Then we'd slip them into the warmer thingy. Place smelled like hot ass fa' sho'.

You'd had better come in nice and humble fuckin with us. LMAO!

My question is this. where is the strength in IT so that I can navigate my and reconfigure my college and career goals.

Yes, we (the shop) have been talking about all the cats that are going to Heald, ITT Tech, Phoenix, and the like that think they're going to get all these high paying jobs in a few months. Man, there ain't shit out here. The market was being flooded as it was, now there are only a handful of jobs to go around period. Short term (until Indian replacements are implemented) contract work will be the order of the day.

I heard that...I had an IT internship once and people were submitting resumes to get the internship. people with major qualifications, some more qualified than the dept. head. This was after the dot-com crash though.
