Supreme Court makes sports betting a possibility nationwide - Arizona's Family

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has struck down a federal law that bars gambling on football, basketball, baseball and other sports in most states, giving states the go-ahead to legalize betting on sports.

The Supreme Court on Monday struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. The 1992 law barred state-authorized sports gambling with some exceptions. It made Nevada the only state where a person could wager on the results of a single game.

One research firm estimated before the ruling that if the Supreme Court were to strike down the law, 32 states would likely offer sports betting within five years.

Indian casinos bout to be the new empire, what they were raking in before is nothing compared to what they will be.

Kind of disappointed but not surprised......the corrupt politicians in AZ want to give the tribes a monopoly on sports betting in the state since they already have their hands in those same tribes honey pot of casino gambling. I live near a horse racing spot- they better be allowed to offer sports betting there. I mean at the end of the day I want the tribes to get caked out so as long as they are actually taking care of their people, but I also want convenience for me to make money wagering.

BTW, pro sports is about to get even more scripted and predetermined then it ever was before when this spreads to the majority of the states. The fix most def will be in, I Garnette it.
