I have the compilaltion of a lifetime coming out soon. I don't have a label under my name, but you'll soon know who I am. Also a lot of people put up samples of their music and beats, but they are fuckin garbage. You can tell it was recorded on the computer and the beat was made with fruity loops.

Good thread.The point is,some of these people are doing this just based on a love for music.They don't have the financial resources to even put out a quality project anyway,but if their doin it just for themselves,and some homies from around there way,I don't have a problem with that.It's true some of these kats claim to be the tightest shit since whoever,and claim to be able to take over the rap game "soon",but in all actuality,they don't have the drive,money,or work ethic to even git off the ground.If making quality rap albums was as easy as smokin dope,and fuckin around in a studio with fake gang rags,we'd have alot of platinum artists on this site.But it takes EFFORT.You have to not only come up with a quality studio,money,a mixdown,and several other aspects covered to put out a good album,you also have to have creativity,and the least a smidgen of originality to succeed.I have heard some of my favorite albums ever from artists on this site,and I have heard some shit I could spit over better,with a pencil and balled up fist for a beat.If you ain't puttin 100% into this shit,or whatever else your aspiring to do,you ain't gonna be shit.Playing video games is not gonna help you write rhymes.Drinking forties while you have stacks of cd's sitting in your basement is not gonna git you on top.PERIOD.

The low price of computers/internet access and the wackness you hear on radio and tv has everyone thinking they should be in the rap game. Also the "if so and so can put out an album so can I" mentality adds more fuel to the fire. And then you got people who try to rap and their friend tell them their shit is tight even if it's not. All these reasons are why the Bay and the rap game as a whole is flooded. This game is not for everybody. If you ain't got it, you ain't got it.
Also if anyone tells you they're in this shit for the love of music is a goddamn liar. This shit is about money just like everything else in this world. The only people who could say they do it for the love are people who are rich as a muthafucka and are financially set for life or someone who raps as a hobby but would turn down a record deal or refuse compensation for rapping. Either way both are highly doubtful.
