why many inmates "find God" in prison?

because their minds are more closed in than ever.. all they have to do is look around.. there you have it, they are a believer...

it passes the time. its like how many inmates learn to play spades or clever ways to hide shit. If these people truly "found God" (whatever that means) then they would probably stick to it when they get released.

maybe they are weak minded, and have simple black & white view of society they live in. If they were more socially aware, i think the outcome would be different. They look at the actions that got them in prison and think if they followed the path of god they would be in a better position, but in reality its the path this society expects us to behave.

a couple of my closest patnas have done major numbers and sum are doing numbers, and that first tall can, first line or first knot of money and that god shit goes out the window...real talk

I grew up around the church......And most people i met hit some alltime low or just a low point in life......That made them search for god...........So its not only jail.........Its lows in life period......some find god when they are doing well 2 i guess, but i havent met many.....

I think its a cop out... like when you pray for redemption or a way out once you get yourself into deep shit. I mean come on as a kid I went to church every sunday. As a Catholic thats a lot of kneeling and standing, and ALL I had to do was go to jail and God is there?! Man! LOL
