i've seen alot of posts on here about e-40, messy, keak, jt, that have to do with them hooking up with mainsteam artists. Most of the time it seems like it's always a negative thing. Well i think u r trippin if u think it's not good. I mean, don't we want to see our bay area artists get some fuckin recognition for the hard work they put in and the talent that they got that's not being recognized. In case u haven't noticed, when the average rap fan goes to the store and sees features like nelly, juvenile, the band, lil flip, 50 cent i think they will be more inclined to buy the cd because they might be big fans of those artists. when these fans buy the cd it's a chance for the bay area artist to shine. it's always a good opportunity for the artist to work with someone that is doin it on a major level because it'll only give them more drive to get to that major level.

somebody was saying something about JT because he had nelly featured on his album. fuck nelly sells as much if not more than anyone out there so why wouldn't u want him on your album. nelly has some skills don't deny that. i've never bought one of his albums or anything but the man has a unique style. it's not like nelly came on and ruined the song or anything, that song that jt did with nelly was pretty fuckin tight.

cellski is always doing thangs with lil flip and somebody made a comment that lil flip is garbage and cellski shouldn't be braggin about doin shit with flip.

What's the deal with this??????? I want to see our bay area artists hook up with these people at the top so they could outshine em and show em where the talent is really at!!!!!!

Actually, I was the one who posted about JT being contrvercial for having Nelly on his album. I never said it was a BAD thing, though. I just said that moves like that get people talking about it, all with different opinions. Controversial. And this new thread only proved my point 100%.

It's probably a good thing JT hooked up with somthin mainstream, he's been in it for years and is comin up more and more every year. And that song with Nelly aint too bad, either.

Then you got sum people in the bay area that are still stuck in 1992! Times change and so do music, alot of people fail to realize that. People out here can say that these mainstream artists are weak, and they suck etc.....etc......
But obviously these mainstream artists must be doing something right in order to get where there at in this music industry.
Yes the bay is hot, its always had fire.. But you have to think mainstream! From rap names to song subjects. All this D-Boy rap gotta stop, or not stop, just mature and come a new.
Now since i listened to Jt the bigga figga's-project poetry, it looks like and sounds like he's taking that step. Versitale beats, and versitale subject matter.
All the bay talks about is highsiden, triple golds, slang'n hop, and fuckin women. Can we brighten our horizen a little????
Look at E-40, study what he does, lyrically and production-wise,
Look at Too Short, those guys are hitting it hard, they bein versitale. If you want to be a Northern Cali superstar with a handful of overseas fans thats perfect to be that kind of artist, but if you tryna get where E-40 & Too Short is then you need to get with it.

I don't think it's bad at all, as long as it compliments the song and it's a good song, not when it's obvious where the collabo on the song was just made because of the name value of the mainstream and/or bay artist!

But then again, there have been bay area artists gone mainstream (Too $hort in my opinion, MC Hammer, E-40 I consider semi-mainstream, 2Pac).

So the question is, would an underground bay area artist work well with a mainstream bay area arist?

thats pure bull shit v-boy.

if people start spittin that weak ass shit, then ima call them on it. if they start using beats with only a baseline and 1 small little synth with a simple tune that sounds almost indentical to the base line. then ima call them on it.

FUCK THE WEAK SHIT

i understand what your saying proppa about the simple beats but since the east got it locked right now and there beats our simple thats what the producers are trying to do during the ninetys people made very complex almost pop or rnb style beats and that was great but people wanna get make to the gritty essence of hip hop banging drums and simple 4 to 8 bar samples i am one who belives all avenues must merge keyboards and synths, sampling, and live instruments

Takin what MC PMS said - I wouldn't neccessarily consider 2pac bay area. He went from New York to Marin to LA. He's got so many different areas and experience in him (well, besides bullet holes). Plus, 2pac is just the shit. But I did like it when he worked with Ray Luv and Mall and Lay on Black & Dangerous.

A lot of folk still consider him Bay Area cuz he got his game in the bay! It is the Bay Area that made pac who he is and how we associate him with! Plus he repped Cali as a whole, not Marin City the set (well I wouldn't know if he did rep Marin County in his songs, I don't listen to pac that much to be honest).

i dunno why ppl hate on success seems like the more successful u are the more hate u get exception: 2pac but thats just cuz he is R.I.P. I say if it will boost ur album sales to put nelly on a club song and market that shit then do the damn thang get your money but dont expect to not be looked at as a sellout. If u can blow up and still keep it the way u started ur doing good.
