Why is Biggie considered a legend?

IMO I think it is because like 45yr said his lyrical ability and I don't care what anyone says even during the whole east/west beef alot of cats from the west dug his music. He was able (like Pac) to make music anyone into hip hop/rap no matter where they were located could relate to. I think to this day that if Biggie had a chance to make more than 2 albums (I dont really consider the 3 his because Puffy put people on there Biggie never would have worked with) he would maybe the best MC ever.

If Pac never lived and Big and Pac never got into beef and Big never got shot he would be another washed up 90's rapper right now.

I been askin this question for a while now. Wheneva I have a discussion about rap with people and I mention Big L was one of the greatest of all time, they tell me that he didnt do enough or he didnt drop enough albums to do considered one of the greatest. Biggie aint as great as people make him out to be. People say that Biggie is the best rapper ever outta NY, but I think Big L got that title.
the only reason he is a legend is because he was the next best thing to pac during that time. and with him being from the eastcoast, they were just looking for someone to embrace. I he were from the west, he really wouldnt get much recognition.
not to say biggie didnt have skills, but he just didnt do enough to get legend status. it's like if lebron James were to die today, no one would be looking to get him into the hall of fame.

Biggie had a hot flow for a fat man. He died in his prime. He died right after Pac who was also in his prime. Biggs had alot of heads looking at him because of the whole beef shit... but neither of them had the chance to fall off the charts... If they were still alive they would need to step up their game to compete with artists nowadays like Jay z, Nas, Em.....
i think the east coast thing does help, but with Diddy behind him, that helped too...he was just a likable rapper, i think...i think his style and flow is what people were looking for at the time on the east coast...like i felt he could rap without the beats, he just had a cold flow to him that people felt.
He's a legend because when Death Row dissed the whole East Coast they singled out Bad Boy Records. After that is was 2pac (who really was a grounded artist with an already impressive ground of work) VS Biggie (an up and coming rapper who was pushed into being the East Coasts Savior). He's ok at best but he isn't a legend in my eyes. I simply feel that the east didn't have any one at the time and so they made Biggie to be the East Coast equivalent of 2pac which he was but that doesn't necessarily mean he was on pac's level. When pac died he was a legend. When Biggie died he was made a legend.
