Why do you like the teams you do?

I noticed that alot of people like teams that are in a different state from them...my question is why?

Take me for example...I live in the bay area, but I don't like any local teams. My Dad is from Cleveland and we have family there. I used to visit there alot, go to games...so I just sort of ended up following the teams there.

For Pro/College football I like the Browns/Ohio State

For Pro baseball I like the Indians

For Pro basketball I like the Cavs

But for College Basketball I like the UNC Tarheels....

I was born in NC but don't really remember living there. So why do I like them so much. Because I was born there? I've been following them for as long as I remember, but I don't know where it started from.

Not just different states either, some people seem to like pick teams from all over a state.

This guy I work with likes the Niners, the A's, and the Lakers. Why not the Warriors? Because they suck?

Or why not root for one city...like the Niners and the Giants. Why the Niners and the A's?

I don't know...just something I was thinking about.

My Dad Grew up in Oakland & Raised Us to bleed Silver & black.

I could give a fuck about baseball.

I like certain players On NBA teams & College teams. But I dont really like any Teams. I go to Warrior games just see other teams.

I lived right next to were the Arizona Cards practiced and got to meet guys on the team all the time, they were cool as fuck remebering your name and were just cool dudes to meet. thats why I'm a Card fan, cuz the whole team is cool. and Coach Dave McGinnis is the nicest guy you could ever meet.

I became a Saints fan back in the late 80's they weren't a very good team then, but I loved their defense...

Been a Dolphins fan forever...Dan Marino is the best ever...

Kings fan...born and raised in Sac...got some love for the Cavs, Pistons and Spurs...

I'm a Giants fan, but hate the Niner's and A's and not to found of the Raiders...although I don't dislike them as much as the niner's...

I grew up in the east bay but my Dad was origanlly from frisco so he raised me to be a Giants and 49ers fan (dont really watch football though) fuck some oakland A's

Started liking the raiders watching bo jackson...the best athlete ever...my fav. athlete ever.....and i was from the bay....

....starting liking the colts when they drafted peyton manning...my fav. college football player...

...college football..the university of tennessee..started liking them in 6th grade, when i lived in georgia....my step-father is a UGA fan and it was the night of a UT-UGA game..and i bet him 20 bucks UT would win....(i didn't even watch college football at the time)....i don't know why i picked them, i think just b/c i didn't like my step-father..anyways, UT beat the fuck out of UGA...and ever since that night..i started watching all the tennessee games...and now i'm the biggest UT fan around

Sharks....local team...my dad who lived in san jose..bought season tickets from season one.....i started going to some games at the cow palace before the arena was ever even built in SJ...and they will always be my team

Sixers.....ever since they drafted AI....iverson was my fav. player in college basketball...watched him at G-town and thought he was the fuckin best...which he is....but that's when i started watching him, and the sixers drafted him...so i had to root for them

Sacramento Kings - I'm from Sac so that's a given. But I also like to watch the Mav's and the Clippers.

Dallas Cowboys - My grandfather is orginally from Texas and he's a looongtime fan. My dad really didn't get into football (he was a boxing guy) so I adopted my papa's team from early on.

Since I have really loathed the 'BOYS these last couple of years, I have followed the Raiders more recently. But I'm no Raider Fan by any stretch. I have more class.

First football game I watched: The 49ers & Bengals in the Superbowl. Never changed teams after that.

Detroit Pistons - Well I grew up in Flint, MI and it's hella close to Detroit so every nigga in Flint is a Pistons fan, so it obviously grew on me.

Washington Redskins - I was born in DC but me and my fam left there when I was really young but I still got family down there and tha first football game I ever watched was a Redskins game, plus I'm a Stephen Davis fan too. I use to be a Detroit Lions fan back in tha day but now I don't even care about em, my old high school football team could probly beat em.

I also like tha Raiders and Tampa Bay too.

Its a wierd thing because my pops grew up in the DC metro area where Redskins fans run rabid, but for some reason when he was young decided to become a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Its not even like he has any ties to the city of Dallas or even the state of Texas. So I basically had no choice as to who I rooted for in football because at an early age my pops slapped the Dallas PJ's up on me and the rest is history.

Its a wierd thing tho cause my father and myself both root for all of the other hometown teams like the Orioles in baseball, the Wizards/Bullets in basketball, and the Caps in hockey.
