im a big time De La Hoya fan, why do you hate him so much??

THE GOOD:
smart fighter
not a shit-talker
does not run all over the ring (like camacho)
gives out a good show (win or loss)
represent the mexican-american
(with his trunks, opening mariachi, flags, especially shouting out the mexican independents after the vargas victory)

THE BAD:
his voice (you hate it, you must hate Mike Tyson then)
bad singer
too many post-pone

my thoughts-- whats your opinions??

AND TO MY MEXICAN RAZA - IF YOU WERE GOING TO TRINIDAD OVER DE LA HOYA ON THAT NIGHT YOUR A BITCH ASS.. BANDWAGON BITCHEZ,, KEEP IT REAL

i think for the most part the mexican people not the mexican americas are the ones that hate him because he crushed chavez(twice), hernandez, ruelas, paez. and from what i have seen throughout the course of my life is that mexicans and Mex americans dont really get along. but nontheless delahoya is and will go down as one of the greatest fighters ever.

shit i like him he has won me lots of money especially against the above stated fighters. only time i ever lost on him was against trinidad (and i still feel as if i got robbed). i just watched the mosley fight (to close to bet on).

In close fights he did not give Quartey or Whitaker rematches. Both fights were extremly close. He said he wanted to fight Mosley after he lost and instead he made a CD. He has lied throughout his career. The fact that he tries to cast his WBO championship as a legit Championship to give himself the moniker of a 5 division champion is laughable. He is a great fighter without a doubt but like he did Saturday night, he should let his actions speak for himself, because when he talks all he does is dig himself a hole.

well against quartay i think that DLH won, close, but still won, and that the late dominance and K-down proved that.
and about whittaker well a hate whittaker about as much as you hate DLH. personally if i were DLH i would never have fought whittaker cause all he does is RUN. so it was a good move to not fight him again.

and about rematches i was under the impression that the champion was entitled to a rematch NOT the challenger (which both quartay and whittaker were).

and about mosley DLH got beat soundly and ive always believed that once some1 beats you if you fight them again you once got that in the back of your head and therefore it is too ard to come back and beat them. as was evident in forrest-mosley . mosley never got over the pounding he took from forrest back in the day

De La Hoya's own words were that he was going to get back in there and fight Mosley. He also said over a year ago that he was going to fight Mosley,Tito, and Vargas in a year. Dominates Chavez and then gives him a rematch instead of Whitaker or Quartey. I dont hate him at all, I just have seen a career of lies and excuses. Look at what he said before the Vargas fight, that if he lost he would retire, thats a quiter.

Look at Mosley, he lost to Forrest, takes a pay cut to fight him again. Whitaker won a controversial decision to Wilfredo Rivera, so he gives him a rematch and beats him soundly. Azumah Nelson gets a lucky nod against Jeff Fenech while he was sick with malleria, almost everyone says Fenech won the fight soundly, Nelson gives him a rematch and takes care of business. That is what Boxing is all about. True champions give rematches, and true warriors seek to revenge their loses. Oscar has had plenty of time to fight Shane and has only called out Shanes name after he lost to Forrest. There was an automatic rematch clause in their original fight contract.

De La Hoya is a great fighter and will be a hall of famer period, but to me his career looks like a series of well calculated business moves more than a fighter that wants to prove he is the best, he will do enough to get by, but wont go the extra mile.

Ive been a Delahoya supporter since i saw him in the Olympics, Whatever he does outside the ring is his business, I dont blame anyone thats tryin to make a dollar in any business moves. Hes brought us many great fights win or lose. I like his fighting discipline which as gotten him over with some great victories over some of the best warriors in the ring. I have nothing but great memories and prospered on many of his fights. He has plenty of money, has a great fighting record, he wants to bring back trinidad and a future fight with mosely which i know any boxing fan would love to see happen. But i think as a man and a father he should leave the sport while he can. You can bring back old posts and in each post you'll see that ive been on Delahoyas side on his experience alone, to me Boxers will always have the upperhand against a fighter. The only fight i went against him was the Trinidad fight because i knew he couldnt match Titos strength and fighting style. I liked Delahoyas performance on Saturday and you cant take nothin away from his credentials. Vargas is a great combatant but i just didnt feel he was ready to take on big names just yet. Hes young and started fighting great champions too soon. His career is shaky now with the losses of trinidad and DLH and now he has to make a decision whether he should keep on fighting. Two bad beatings is enough for any fighter and id hate too see him receive anymore.

I can see why soo many dislike Delahoya with his out of the ring persona. But hes just being Oscar a good human being overall full of life and doesnt worry about bringing down the next man who has something objective to say towards him. Who wouldnt want to be as successful as him??

If theres any people id like to see a fight wit on these boards it definitely be Mcleanhatch and BigE916wrm ya'll bring major knowledge on boxin to the worst bandwagoners who decides onna fighter just because. I enjoy readin what ya'll got to say cause everything ya'll type is nothin but Real!!!!!!

I dont think my statement was knocking his resume. His is one of the most impressive in recent boxing hands down. Whitaker,Trinidad,Mosley,Vargas and Quartey is an awesome challenge. In those 5 fights though he has won one fight clearly. All of his wins over Camacho,Chavez,Gonzales,Ruelas,Hernandez,Marquez,Carr,Leija,Rivera also add to an excellent resume.

As for other fighters that have fought a lot of current or ex-champs the only fighters that are in Oscar's league or resume are, Tyson,Lewis,Holyfield,Hopkins,Hill,Jones,Trinidad(if he comes back),and Barrera.
