Damn I am tired of rappers doing playback when they perform. When I pay more than $30 to attend a concert I expect the rappers to be able to do their songs without voice help. I lose my respect for rappers who aren't skilled enough to rap live. I was at a Luniz concert recently and they performed with playback. I checked the DVD that came with the new Trae CD and on the live performances on that disc they did playback. I am not talking about any live TV show, I am talking about real concerts where people actually pay for their tickets. What do you feel about rappers who do playback? Do you think it's OK or are you like me and feel like getting your money back? Has playback become the norm of rap concerts nowadays?

By the way, speaking about the Luniz doing playback, they had brought bad CDs for their playback concert that skipped all the time. They had to restart songs three times LOL.

Depends on how loud the vocals are

If they're at full blast (like britney spears does), thats fucked

If its at 1/2 or so, mostly for guidance, i wouldn't mind

naw i think its better than backround fools yelling a couple lines here or there, if you mix it right you cant even tell sometimes. I think it only makes it better.

"Why do so many rappers do playback on concerts?"....spitting in a booth and spitting on stage are two different things....they probably dont wanna look stupid when the forget thier lines cuz aint no do overs on stage. or it could be they are just lazy because they get paid either way. or it could be that they want to focus on putting on a show (like britteny spears does with the dance steps and special effects)

Exactly, I find that even more irritating than the playback.

we've done a couple of shows with our vocal tracks at about 1/3 of the normal volume for guidance and to make the the vocals sound thicker cause like someone above said, spittin in the booth and spittin on stage is two different things.
