I can't figure out for the life of me why people love the Wild Cat formation in football so much. It's like the biggest fad in football right now. One team started off doing it, I think it was the Dolphins, but I may be mistaken, and now each year several more teams add it to their playbook.
I don't see the point. I rarely see a Wild Cat formation play go for more than 3 yards. The defense knows that it's most likely going to be a run play because the running backs can't throw the football. And even if they do, they're not good enough so the defense does not have to double-cover any of the receivers because the chance is very high that the pass will not be completed, so the defense can rush more guys. And I hate how excited the announcers get every time the team forms in the Wild Cat formation, as if something amazing is going to happen. Oh look, another 3 yard run.
You're better off just having your quarterback in there because he can at least throw accurately, unless it's Jason Campbell, or hand the ball off, so the defense has to be on their toes for either a run or a pass.
