Im not trying to start any shit, im curious as to why people dont like Hollis beats?

I think he is tight. I understand he has specific sounds that he uses a lot, but so do all producers, thats what makes them individual - Like a Dre beat has a specific sound you expect to hear, same with Rick Rock, or DJ Premier.

Luni's Ready For War is nearly a perfect beat, that slaps so hard. My only past criticism of Hollis is sometimes his beats have been mixed and mastered like shit, the whole Raided & Kingpin album for instance, that shit hurts the ears its mixed so badly.

New shit Hollis been doing on the Stackin Chips label have been tight to me

a producer always is known to have a signature sound, but sometimes its a little over the top with Hollis.. i love his beats though, creative basslines and shit.. can someone list a few projects that he been involved with these past 2 years cause i aint really been up on hollis cause all the negative shit...

lol

what hurt hollis was all the mediocre/wack beats he ended up selling/releasing along with his tight material. those boring/repetitive beats (because they were so numerous) ended up overshadowing his tight beats. he's still one of my favorite producers tho - the latest shit that he did that really impressed me was the keak - "town business" album.

naw but on the real I dont hate on hollis. Nick you pretty much said it. He got a few bangers but they are overshadowed by the constint boring ones. Maybe it wouldnt annoy me so much if he didnt use that one specific "TING" in all his beats. I know you all know what I am talking about. Its that one piano sound.

I think he should have done a track here and track there instead of dropping tons of albums totally produced by him that you could tell he didnt spend any time on and for that reason the beats were wack....

I think Hollis is like every other producer including myself . You get what you pay for. We all got average tracks laying around for fools with no cash and some bangers if you talkin bread.

Me personally tho, I try to stay competitive with the major sound. Hollis been in the game for a while and made a lot of money already, so I doubt he's trippin anymore.

Also wait til his solo drops, I'm sure he saved the best for his own shit. I heard a few tracks and it's knockinn.

I'm a tell ya'll better than anyone. I'm glad to see that post like this pop up every now and then. Cuz now I can be included. Now the reason, everyone seemd to hear Big Hollis beats that sound the same is because 1. When the people come to Hollis, they already have in mind what kind of beat they want most of the time. So he'll make what they want and it comes out how they want it to sound. He might not even like it, but if they like it, then another pay day. 2. Most of the peole who buy beats from Hollis, they come to him saying that they want one of those "Big Hollis beats", like on Luni's shit or whoever they remember hearing him doing a beat for. It's just like Lil Jon, Neptunes, or whatever. Hollis has just learned the business of makin' tracks for a lot of people. He gets calls all the time, so he has to make 10 beats a day, so he can match demand. Now you can't hate if they're callin' him and accepting what comes about, and then put it out to you. It's really up to the artist that Hollis works with, or the vibe in the lab. If everthing clicks, that's when he comes with heat, but when it just another pay day, then so be.

Hollis has all kinds of hot music that no one never hears that's hot as fuck, because you only hear what sells right now. Some artist are scared to take that step and chance a sound, so look for what helped another artist sell. But give it time, it's all coming to the head, and Hollis knows what people say. It's just about business out here. Not to mention that he does all that shit his self. Make the beat, record the vocals, mix it, and maybe put it out too. Man, it's hard to keep up out here, but somebody got to do it. And that's from a brother who knows. Stay Up. 1 Luv.

i think hollis is tight. ive always dug his beats. i think he just has a distinctive sound that defines him. the beats on skanless' shit, gangsta dres, dames, luni's...even vengeance is mine...all fuckin tight! id say the only one i didnt like was the x & kingpin cd also, but it still had a couple decent trax even.

Ok well I see your point emoe. He coming with some basic shit all the time. Why peeps would ask him for the repeated same shit I have no clue. IF hollis got knocks get in touch with him and post some samples of the "QUALITY EXPENSIVE SHIT" Because as of now he is portrayed from what he has released as being "weak"

Yeah He knows that. But when your makin' money, you still got a chance to grow. I have seen Hollis do a track for someone and we laugh at it. But like I said before, money talks. Fuck the bullshit. Now if you like it and put it out, and people say it's wak, it don't matter to me because I knew that already. But I tell Hollis everyday what people say, and he does listen, but sometimes, he just can't keep up with the speed of the calls. So some shit will get done. And he's by himself. I remeber when I went on to do my thang before Hollis was known. We use to make sure we put pride in every song we did, so he always ask me what I think of new stuff before it comes out. I might tell him, that the mix ain't cool, or whatever I don't feel from the song, and that's it. Now he heard what I said but the release date would be next week or so, money talks. But I know everyone that ever liked a Hollis beat, when his new solo album drops, I'm pretty sure he'll a lil more respect. If ya'll only new the half.

It's fa damn sho Hollis got them knockers. To me it never really mattered when I heard a same-sounding beat here and there when i get 75% definite bangers with it. Like the Dame album.
