So from what I understand, a big rap star will make money, start a label, bring dudes on, blow them up with a cd and video and then later....you never hear about them?

What I basically want to know is why rappers choose to leave such a good source of funding and then die out.

Example people:
-Bad Azz
-Kokane
-Bone Thugs

I cant think of many other people off the top of my head, but I have seen a ton of these moves pulled when they have things covered:

Boss - (snoop) - ok he has major connections, tons of money...
Label - Priority - koch ... etc etc
Money - they all have funding...it doest cost anything really these days to make cds...

So with all that said, why do these rappers usually bail out from an established place. Ive read many times where he/she has an argument, or messed up payments or who knows. But the rappers who I havent heard much and they still have good relationships with their prior company, I never find out why they leave.

I mean I personally would just stick around the company...I would be awlays set...not worry about bills and all that. But then I see a big rapper...and hes making simple cds, amateur, pretty shitty stuff....

How do you go from being set with whatever connection you need to something lower?

I am just really curious why they pull such moves.

i dont get what youre asking.

why would snoop continue to be underneath someone? hes made money, he has a family, and hes moved on to do other things like act in hollywood.

as far as bad azz, you would have to look at what his record contract was. it dosent work like that. your contract is up your contract is up...its not like a job

if you dont understand why someone would leave a boss to become their own boss, or their own man....wow...you have some issues you need to work out and i aboslutely hope that isnt the case

Definitions of subservient on the Web:
  • [SIZE=-1]
  • compliant and obedient to authority; "editors and journalists who express opinions in print that are opposed to the interests of the rich are ...
  • implemental: serving or acting as a means or aid; "instrumental in solving the crime"
  • slavish: abjectly submissive; characteristic of a slave or servant; "slavish devotion to her job ruled her life"; "a slavish yes-man to the party bosses"- S.H.Adams; "she has become submissive and subservient"

  • To serve under another person. Unequal.

dj muggs of cypress hill is making more money now than he made when he was in cypress hill....you know why? because he left the boss and got his business straight and now hes making the money on anything he drops

reading the book "the music of business" might help you to understand that

Game was signed with JT the Bigga Figga and left because his contract expired. Recording two albums under him was the contract, done deal it's business.

Not everyone has to remain in the same camp.

I think the most shadiest one would have to be Chingy for disrespecting Ludacris. He sucks but the point is he was better off with Luda then trying to be independent and talking his shit.

Look @ Knoc-Turn'al he was on Chronic 2001 and everyone was like

"DAMN THAT NIGGA TIGHT, WHEN'S HE DROPPING AN ALBUM?"

Album dropped no one really cared. He flopped don't blame the person that signed them.

It can happen both ways.
There is one person in particular who was being paid 250,000 a year plus bonuses, and was allowed to do outside collaborations for exposure and extra loot. After a very high profile collaboration this particular person was insulted at a contract renewal for the same deal.
Person left expecting greener pastures only to try to get back on but no spot was available. Person now slams publicly former boss but it is what it is. Sometimes there are A LOT of people behind the scenes who make a Superstar a Superstar.
And on the other hand some can break out and get their greener pastures.
