im not saying that THE REASON but it is a factor as to why they dont........
you only see a handfull of big name bay artists with top notch producers......... turf talk, quinn, forty
most bay rapper use no name producers....mista fab,keak,messy......
this is the indenpent game the less money that your album cost the more money will recoup...........
If I was doing your math, and used $1,000/good beat. On a 12 track CD, that's 12 racks. If you can't afford 12 racks on production, those people need to get out of the game. I'm just saying. Do the math people.
ASSUMING the average Bay artist sells 10,000 units total. Using the ASSUMED Independent profit per unit of $5. That's a total profit of $50,000.
$50,000 Total Profit
$20,000 Production/Studio Time/Purp & Blunts (12 $1k beats)
$15,000 Physical CD Production/Case/Cover/Promotions
$15,000 Remaining "Funds".
If that equation makes any sense, you'd have to drop 6 albums just to make 100 racks on a yearly basis.
I know the numbers aren't the best, I rounded up on my numbers so don't hold me to it. Just showing an example. I welcome comments and other numbers breakdowns. Let's put down the haterade and discuss this in a civil fashion.
