"Eject" it from the computer, but don't unplug it....that way you can plug in headphones or speakers......if you want to listen to it thru your computer you need to download some kind of program....find one at versiontracker.com

^reset it (hold down the menu button and the center of the click wheel for about 6 seconds, it'll shut off & on and start with an apple logo) and make sure you have the latest update.....also make sure it is fully charged before you use it, and try to make sure it completely dies before you recharge it....mine is starting to do the same thing.....and I notice that I charge it then leave it out before I use it again, and it'll have some energy lost....also reset it when you feel you should have extra battery life....I've had it go from fully charged to no life & die, then I reset it and it had half battery life.....
