Why can't I add a MP3 to myiTunes library? WTF!

I have 100+ folders filled with thousands of MP3's, but iTunes won't let me add them to my library and thus add them to my iPod.

I tried the google, but couldn't find a good direct answer (maybe I'm no phrasing my problem correctly).

Anyone have any ideas/solutions for me?

you sure they're mp3s?

If I right click on a file and then properties it says Type: MP3

When you go to the IPOD main screen when you first plug it in, make sure "Manually manage music and movies is checked" if that's not it I don't know.

i have the same problem...i hate that itunes software...other MP3 players i have had work fine.
