THE SHIT IS CAN TUNA.. THE NORTHWEST HAS A LOT OF ARTIST WITH THERE OWN SOUND AND HAVE A LOT OF TALENT. WE NEED TO KEEP PUSHING THAT SHIT.. NOBODY IS GOING TO GET NOTICED TRYING TO RUN WITH THE NEXT CITIES SOUND. AND IT FLOPPED FOR MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE THAT WAS DOING THE SHIT IN THE BAY. REAL TALK MAN... I HAD A FEW CATS HIT ME UP ON MYSPACE TRYING TO COLLAB AND ALL THERE MUSIC WAS HYPHY.. WTF.. I TOLD THEM STRAIGHT UP BRODY THAT SHIT IS CAN TUNA MAN.. WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF COME HOLLA BACK AT ME.. IM NOT TALKING ABOUT EVERYBODY BUT THE CATS THAT IS DOING IT KNOW WHO THEY IS...

This is a discussion that's come up plenty of times thru out the years whether on here(the siccness) or out in the streets at rap shows but nothin ever comes of it. There's bin producers from the NW that's help mold n create the "hyphy" sound and it is wat it is. People make the music they enjoy listenin to, n others make the music they think other people will enjoy listening to. What is the NW sound? Thats a question that will be continued to be asked for years to come in my humble mexican opinion. ORALE!

TRUE.... BUT THESE CATS HAVE THERE OWN STYLE WITH THE SHIT... CATS BEEN WITH THE SHIT EVERY WHERE.. BEFORE NWA PUT IT OUT THERE FOR THE PUBLIC PEOPLE WAS PUSHING DOPE AND GETTING KILLED ACROSS AMERICA. PEOPLE WHERE JUST AFRIAD I GUESS TO COME OUT ABOUT IT FIRST INTELL NWA AND ICE-T DID IT.. So yes gangster rap did start in cali and cali just made it comfortable for everybody else to tell there story.. But the difference is gangster rap and back pack rap been around since the 80's.. hyphy came and went.. not the lifestyle but the gimmick..

Northwest is just like a big gumbo pot... Some cats grew up on bay music so there music might sounds more mob. Then some cats grew on that mid-west music so there into the tung twisting thing. And then you have the cats that grew up on eastcoast music. But I can tell you now there's nothing wrong with getting on a mob beat,or an east coast beat or Down south.. It's just a instrumental.. it's up to the artist to make it sound like there own..

Man I am tired of muthaphukaz asking why is NW cats doing hyphy. Let me tell you why, because we contributed to bay music. We helped shape the sound, we were one of the first supporters of the music and culture. That's like asking muthaphukaz from the West Coast, Why do you rap? The east coast invented it. That's stupid! Our producers helped shape the sound and cultivated it. We helped the bay blowup. I grewup on bay music, a lot of muthaphukaz from the town did. So of course we going to do music that we relate to. It doesn't matter if it's called mobb music, bay music, hyphy music, etc. We doing what feels good to us.

I do hyphy/Mob music. Whatever you want to call it, I do it! Don't like it, don't listen to it. My group gets love from the bay. We've been featured on countless mixtapes and comps. I'm networking with a lot cats from the bay right now.

It is what it is.

Evidently you do not know what hyphy is. Hyphy is Hip Hop, it's away of life. It's a culture. And a lot of cats from Seattle relate to the culture. That's why a lot of bay rappers fuck with us because we show love and support. I don't hear and see a lot of L.A. niggaz showing love to the NW.

homie calvin came back from the bay this week, and said i have a bay sound..

is it because i grew up on bay music for the last 20 years? from spice 1 to andre nickatina im a bay music fan since birth pretty much..

lived in the NW my whole life

but i also work with alot of cats in my lab who are from the bay, and cats online fuck with me from that area.. and these cats appreciate my music taste, and suprised to see a NW white boy knowin all this westcoast rap sometimes..

no one has come thru and said they have a bigger selection of music than i do.. yet.

so am i fakin? am i a problem.. ? this is the whole westcoast..yes i want to help develop a NW SOUND.. but where is it going to come out of?

I disagree. It is your opinion. But Hyphy shit ain't dead. And yes Mobb music and Hyphy music is one and the same. Different type production, same concept. Mobb music was more slow and bass line heavy. Hyphy more sped up. Same spit, same style. And yes my nig, it is the same culture. I do Hyphy music and I get love from the bay. Bay Djs fuck with my group. If Hyphy is dead in the bay, why are we getting so much love. Ain't no one in the bay told me Hyphy was dead. And it isn't a fact that Hyphy is dead. It may be dead commercially, but it ain't dead in the streets and it ain't dead in my heart. Like Dub G said, it's all west coast and the NW helped create this sound, so we are just as entitled to represent this shit as the bay.

Don't look at it as we are taking away, but we are adding to the culture. Let me tell you who helped create the sound of Mobb/Hyphy. Syko (P.O.), FunkDaddy (Seattle), Bosko (P.O.), Samuel Stevens R.I.P. (Seattle), Kevin Gardner & Redwine (Seattle), SupasKillz & Littleton Miller (Seattle), Tone Capone (P.O. I believe), Ryan Croone (Seattle) and John Silva (Seattle), just to name a few. And this is well off into the early 90s until now. So please don't give me that shit. The bay is our sound whether you like it or not, agree or disagree. And the bay has showed us just as much love as we show them.

And that is my honest opinion.

I dont think it matter what type of music you make no matter what region you from. Good music is good music just do it right. The Northwest needs to lay some better groundwork before they get anywhere. The problem is not the music because as you can see there are other regions with beyond subpar music and they are doing alot better than the northwest.

There is no unity and very few outlets for people to even know the northwest has any kind of a scene. Most of the artists from this area are the worst bullshitters I have ever dealt with in my life. I should never have to hound an artists for his CD's especially if im willing to pay you $. It is 2010 get your shit together! any credible outlet is not going to even bother messing with you unless you have your stuff together.

trmndus, i agree fully as well.. 1 reason i work with cats online is cuz i cant find 2 many NW cats that will put in the time. they almost all flake off eventually.

our rap scene dies off like our fucking sports teams i swear.

we go hard, and fall short.. then talk shit about our own. for not making it. its bullshit.
