*Youngest Team in NFL, showing great signs of Offensive Improvement
*41 Million Dollars in Cap Space next year(most in NFL) along with 8 draft Picks!
*Top 10 O-Line
*A great Running Back in the Making(needs to improve fumbling)
*One Great WR away, Moss or Draft Pick?
*One Safety and One Solid Corner away from Solidifying the Secondary
*Arguably the Best Front 7 in the NFC west 2nd to Seahawks
*Next thing well be pending on whether Alex Smith maturity as a good QB

I think heading into the offseason, the Niners will surprise everyone next year, with either the Wild Card of West. All of those things which I have listed will most like be fulfilled this off-season, the only thing pending may be the maturation of Alex Smith.

Actually, Green Bay is the youngest team in the league.
Just broke out the spreadsheet I made in November and yeah, Gringo's right. Green Bay is the youngest team in the NFL at 25.25 years.

SF is the 7th youngest team in the league at 25.84 years.

I agree with this thread though, the Niners are on the rise. I see some similarities between them and the '02 Seahawks. I think the key will be the QB position just like Stockton said. It was November-December of '02 when Hasselbeck really showed everybody and most importantly himself, that he could play in this league. I'm not sold on Smith but I do think the Niners are on the rise, you guys should be real excited for next year.

If you guys keep it close tomorrow night then I'll be very impressed.

Gore, Gore, Gore that's about all we got going right now let's be realistic. Vernon Davis will be good, but we got many issues.

Bryant and Battle are good, but I think more of them not really having standout years is the fact that Alex hasn't really come into his own just yet. He's had decent games, but most of them have been with him as more of a supplement to our running game.

I'm hoping he comes through, he looks a lot better than he did last year, so hopefully thats a good sign.

Smith is still the youngest starting QB in the league. He might still be the youngest next year as well. You guys are expecting way too much from such a young player. In most players' careers they are 24-26 years old when they're in their 3rd year. Smith is only 22, he will only be 23 next year. That's when most QBs start taking any type of snap in the NFL. Alex Smith will be a good QB very soon, but you people need to understand it takes a lot more than you might think. It's not as easy as 'upping his game.' He needs another big threat receiver. Battle is decent but he should be a #3. If they get another good receiver and Vernon Davis starts coming around, Smith will have a big year next year.

stockton, you dont like Nolan?
I like both Smith and Nolan, but knowing how stupid ass Donahue Operates, and how cheap York is, they'll both be gone withing the next 2-4 years if they don't make improvements. I see their improvements, but why say they'll be gone? Look at Mariuchi, who hate this guy? All of us fans were disappointed when he was released, we have a sorry ass GM, a cheap ass Owner, and you know damn well Donahue would release Nolan and Smith if expectations, or his expectations are not met.

Niners need to upgrade their Defensive Ends. Its been awhile since we had a front four that actually puts pressure on the QB without blitzing.

I agree for the most part. People tend to forget how young Smith is and he has shown much better understandinf of the NFL this year. Its hard to imagine that people would give up on him so quickly.

I don't like to make other Niner fans look bad, but you need to pay more attention to the team and what's been going on before you start typing.

Terry Donahue got the boot 2 years ago, before they even hired Nolan. And York is actually willing to spend money now. When the fans started walking out on games he figured out we weren't gonna sit around and watch him drive the team into the ground. No fans = no money for York. He realized you have to spend money to make money in this league and he's opened his wallet.

I wasn't. Maricoochie was a pansy. He had no guts and he was never a good coach. He always had a good team and that's why they won, it had nothing to do with his coaching. Obviously he was able to coach just well enough to make a good team win games, but any coach in the league who has any knowledge of the game could have done the same. He continuously made bad calls and much like Nolan has done a couple times this year, he didn't show any balls. It would be 3rd and long and dude would run up the gut.. Not a draw play, just a regular ass run up the gut. Ridiculous.

That's not possible.

Why?

Because we don't have a GM. Mike Nolan handles absolutely everything, from staffing decisions to gameday decisions. He has his hands full and I believe he has requested some front office help (a GM) to take away some of his responsibilities.

Bryant Young plays at DE and continuously puts pressure on the QBs. We need interior lineman desperately. Marques Douglas isn't doing shit on the opposite end of B.Y. either.

And Young is aging and I doubt he has more than a year left in him. So basically our whole D-Line needs to be replaced.

My bad, that's not just a good post, it's a great post. That shows you how much interest you lose when your franchise is on the decline, but anyways, thanks. I'm going to be happy for the next couple of seasons. hehe
