The wall is stupid and pretty much just Trump's own monument to himself, but there is no reason it shouldn't be funded. At the very least it could be a test to see if it's actually effective or not.
It costs America $5 billion every 20 days on taking care of illegal immigrants. $5 billion for the wall is chump change to our budget, plus it would put a fuck ton of people to work for a solid couple years while it's built.
The real answer to this question of who to blame is Mitch McConnell though. Mitch McConnell could end this shutdown right now. There's enough votes in both the house and the senate to over ride Trump and end the shutdown and all it takes is Mitch McConnell giving the thumbs up to take the vote, but he refuses cause he don't want to anger his daddy Donald.
