CIOBIN: A little history of Livio
LIVIO: Born in Eritrea, Africa after brief stops in DC and Connecticut, Seattle became the home to Livio at a young age. As the youngest of four it was evident that he had a natural talent of rhyming. Rhyming since the age of twelve, Livio has progressed his skills to match up to the best in the industry. Livio’s diverse upbringing is evident in the way he writes and delivers his lyrics. His experiences of the urban jungles are told on tracks like “Life I Know” (Featuring N.O.R.E), “Murder 1” (Featuring Spice 1), and all summarized in the title track “My Life”.
C: This is your first cd?
L: Yes, Livio my life is my first cd. Currently I'm working on my second album and I just finished my underground album which will be available on the internet and on the streets. Also I just got done helping FUNKDADDY on his new album which is hot as f***.
C: Tell me something about hip-hop in your city.
L: Well when you hear HIP-HOP and Seattle first thing that comes to mind is Sir Mix A Lot, but there is much more than that. A lot of Seattle Hip hop is slept on cause we don't have the BIG media hype on us that we need. But believe me we're out here repping and doing our thing.
C: Do you know something about hip-hop in Italy?
L: I'm not going to lie but I don't know much about Italian hip-hop. But I do want to mention I'm a quarter Italian, my father is half Italian and half eritrean.
C: What do you think about mp3?
L: It is a good way for new artist to get there music out there, but on the other hand its hurting major artist that are established. It makes it real easy for the consumer to bootleg your stuff which really hurts your album sales.
C: And about women in hip-hop?
L: I love women and am very proud of them especially the ones that are holding it down. Right now I'm really feeling
Missy Elliot, she is dope no doubt. And i can't forget Foxy Brown she is killing most guys in the industry. So for sure I'm feeling the females in the rap game. If there wasn't any females in the rap game than who would reppersent the billions of females world wide.
C: Have you performed live?
L: Yes, I've done shows with a lot of major artist(refer to BIO). Right now I'm getting ready to do a tour in the USA
C: Who is the artist you like most and why
L: I'd have to say eminem cause he has proved his to the whole world. His odds of making it were very slim and it didn't stop him from doing what he does and now he is on top. Also he showed me love by putting his group on my first album.
C: Do you think that hip-hop videos represent the real hip-hop?
L: I can't say all hip-hop videos represent hip-hop, but there is a few that do. I don't got anything against hip-hop
videos that got a lot of girls in them cause that's how some of them rappers live, and all that bling bling shit will be played out real soon. I cant front I talked about bling in my first album but now I'm on more of that awareness rap telling kids its cool not to bling and its cool to stay in touch with GOD.
C: In which way you live hip-hop?
L: I'm an MC so I live it as I see it. I love all the different aspects of Hip-Hop so I try to include it all into my raps and my live shows that I do.
C: Tell me something about clubs and radios in your city.
L: As far as the club scene my CEO Amir runs that shit in my town. Radio is cool they show me love and I show them love. I do some freestyles for there shows and I also perform at there events.
C: Thanks and hello to
L: I'd like to thank you guys first for taking the time to do this interview than I'd like to say hello to all the people in Italy showing love to this Hip-Hop shit
