Promotional stunt turns 7-11 stores into 'Simpsons' Kwik-E-Marts

DALLAS (AP) - A dozen 7-11 stores, including one in Chicago, turned into the fictional convenience stores of "The Simpsons" fame this weekend.

The Kwik-E-Marts, along with the 6,000 other Seven-Elevens around North America will sell Simpsons-themed treats during the month-long promotion. Among them: Buzz Cola, Krusty-O's cereal and Squishees, the slushy Slurpees knockoff.

It's all part of a campaign to hype next month's opening of "The Simpsons Movie" based on the long-running cartoon show.

The cartoon loves to lampoon convenience stores for their unhealthy snacks.

Advertising officials with 7-11 say the promotion shows they get the cartoon's joke.

The Kwik-E-Marts will be covered in industrial foam and given new signs to replicate the animated look of the fictional stores.

yeah when I went into 7-11 the other day, my girlfriend made a comment about the Simpson cookies that they had at the counter, then the clerk, in a thick Indian accent started telling us that they were going to convert the store into a quickie mart. I was so baffled, I thought he owned the 7-11 and that he was going to invest the money into the conversion. I was just surprised that an Indian guy actually thought having a quickie mart was cool.

looks like i didnt notice that even if your store dosent get turned intoa kwik e mart, theyre selling simpsons shit in alot of the stores (6,000 of them)

the 7-11 i went into an hour ago to buy my 40 (yeah nigga thats right 7am 40 drankin get up on it) had no simpsons shit to my knowledge

the 19 year-oldish chick at the counter eyes my Olde English and goes:

her: "is this good?"
me: "uh..........not really"
her: "so why did you buy it?"
me: "its cheap, and i dont get paid till tomorrow. keep the change."

and now that i think about it lol @ goign into a 7-11 dressed up, buying a 40 and telling the lady to keep the change. that was actually more awesome than i give myself credit for.

back on topic yeah imma buy a box of krusty-o's and not open it
