NEWARK -- Police say a mouthy and disgruntled drive-thru customer shattered the front window of a busy Burger King after he couldn't get it his way: a Whopper Jr. without cheese for breakfast.
Officers were dispatched at 7:30 a.m. Monday to investigate a report of a vandalism at the 34943 Newark Blvd., business just south of State Road 84, Cmdr. Mike Carroll said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that as the fast food restaurant was serving breakfast, a man driving a Toyota Camry entered the drive thru and ordered a Whopper Jr. with "no %$&* cheese," according to a police report.
The employee asked the customer to refrain from using profanity when ordering his food, but the suspect did not comply.
The drive-thru employee's suggestion angered the suspect who then went on "a profanity laden tirade," Carroll said.
After enough of the alleged verbal abuse, the employee refused service and asked the suspect to leave, Carroll said.
The suspect then backed his Camry out of the drive-through, parked in front of the business and got out of the vehicle. He took a large stone and slung it at the businesses' north-facing window causing it to shatter, Carroll said.
No one eating breakfast inside the business was injured during the incident.
The suspect then got back in his car and drove north on Newark Boulevard, Carroll said.
As of this morning police had not yet located the suspect and the window at
Advertisement the business had been replaced, Carroll said.
