Collabs are about reaching different demographics and album sales. If you're not so strong with females in the midwest, having Nelly on your album is a smart move - because he will appeal and attract buyers. He's a draw.

That being said, I just read the thread on artists charging for a verse. It's all about drawing buyers and winning on your investment. The guy used Loki's G as an example. If you stay indy, and make 5 or 6 bucks for every album sold as a songwriter and producer...Loki would have to guarantee to attract you 200 new buyers to recoup on the investment, and much more to make it worthwhile.

So....who is a worthwhile, SMART investment from the Bay, Sac, NW area? You could make a definite case for Lynch Hung being worth a lot more than the 3 G'z he charges, because he has a horrorcore fanbase in the white demographics nationwide. You could make a case for legends like 40water or Spice-1 because they have a special following which buys WHATEVER has their name on it, based on them being "legendary." Loki is borderline, since he soaks up all that Lynch Hung stigma and sells because of his affiliation.

Who is, and who isn't a draw?

A-Wax, Cellski, C-Fresh (bein the reminence of a classic duo act need I say more), First Degree The DE (cult fanbase). T-Nutty too.

played out: Snoop. A lot of listeners may have clocked that his appearances on indie shit are WEAK. When JT got verses from him in the 90's his flows was horrible and JT bein in on top of his shit then outshined him.
