i don't wanna clown but let's be realistic here..... when was the last time dubee even had a single??? never! i like dubee, i think he's got some tight shit. his older shit was better but he's still doin alright. honestly san quinn has what it takes. there's a few people out there that i think have a realistic chance at gettting big: messy, frontline, federation, balance, ea-ski, and ya boy! the question u gotta ask is: who is gonna make the biggest impact in the industry from the bay this year?? 40 will only get bigger on bme. this could be an exciting year for the bay. everyone has to really support san quinn, e-40, keak, frontline, federation, balance, ea-ski, ya boy etc etc.

the days of a WHOLE region blowin up because of a few artist are over...I'm sure someone in the near future will have success that is from the Bay area...like Baby Beesh!
But music now days consists of Radio play, Video play, Etc.
So only individual artists blow up now....indie music is DEAD!

It sucks but it's true!

Messy Marv or San Quinn?
I have two takes on this thread, but will share one now.

I love their music too death, but if they havent gotten to the mainstream/blowup level yet, where people from other coasts know of their lyrical/musical greatness and will buy their records, after making over 15 albums over 10 years between them, then I dont think they will ever blow beyond their market if they continue to not make personal appearences in untapped markets.

For example, I've personally requested their music be played on the stations here in Florida. I've even played their shit on my old pirate radio station, announcing their name and songs. From what I remembered, people called to request their shit to be played but that died when people couldnt find their shit in the stores and they didnt perform here.

I'm in a hip-hop hotbed, Miami-Ft Lauderdale area, where alot of musical acts from other regions with no skills hang and perform likes its nothing. I've mentioned this on this board before and stated a record company like Done Deal should personally market their op's here in Florida and partically in the Bahamas, by trying to setup appearances/concerts at local venues. For instance, alot of clubs here in south florida let cats that dont have nowhere near the skills mess and San qinn have perform and generate an audience. Hell, I been trying to get the word out but the 'Bay' needs to shine their light - inde marketing-beyond the west coast and kansas city.

To sum it up, I personally believe its going to be some new cat that blows up the spot.

The original question is so stupid it's not even worth answering. I can't believe people still entertain the idea that .... nevermind, waste of time to elaborate.
Well...I've mentioned this on other threads...There might be a few INDIVIDUAL rappers and/or groups (or even labels, i.e. Done Deal) that might blow up individually, but it won't automatically cause the WHOLE Bay to blow up. The only way for the WHOLE Bay to blow up, IMHO, would be either...

1). Everyone would have to water down their shit and do dance tracks and love songs--not just one or two songs on the CD (which I could live with); I'm talking WHOLE (or almost whole) CDs. The majors tend to have a "what have you done for me LATELY?" attittude towards music, and they would defend their demands by pointing out that the harder, gangsta-ish/message oriented music hasn't been doing that well in terms of mainstream-like sales since...(fill-in-the-blank)

2). The Dance/Love song genre would have to just suddenly drop off sales-wise to where the majors wouldn't be making much money from that genre; then, and only then, might they be ready to accept something either "new" or something old that hasn't been heard in awhile, so to speak. But this is not likely to happen anytime soon since a certain percentage of those who listen to the radio and buy records (women in particular) don't want hard-beats-and-lyrical-meat; they want romance-dance-and-shakey-pants music.

But I'll go ahead and answer the question: As far as individuals who could become stars, I think Messy Marv has the best mix of skills, voice command and personal charisma. So either him, or, again, Done Deal as a label could blow up much like Rockafella, Death Row, etc. have in the past. But it wouldn't cause the whole Bay to blow back up...Just my opinion, though.

PEACE!
