Just cause the first fuckin Lowrider Magazine came from SJ doesn't mean shit. Are you guys serious? That's like saying because Playboy comes out of Cali that California made up porn and sex, use some fuckin common sense. If you're going to post, KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT....AT LEAST RESEARCH THE SHIT BEFORE YOU SAY, "I HEARD THIS.." Nobody gives a fuck about what you "heard" or "think you know." Prove the shit, or at least give facts, not just, "yeah a heard that shit started in san jose." That's a real intelligent answer....fuckin christ, it's like trying to have a discussion with a 5-year old.

By the way, once you actually look the shit up, it's not hard to tell these cars are over 60-70 years old. Who the fuck said Crenshaw? You should be bitch slapped 25 times for that retarded fuckin answer...

http://www.lowrider.com/information/history/nytimes.php

"Let the white kids race frenetically; Chicano youths defined cool by affecting a flamboyant, relaxed look, first with 1930's- and 1940's-era Chevys, today known as "bombs," and later with the boat-size Chevrolet Impalas and similar cars. Rather than use their cars as symbols of rejection of their elders, the lowriders were conspicuously reverent of their parents' generation. They embraced the zoot suits and drooping mustaches of the so-called pachucos, hipsters of a previous generation, as well as Roman Catholic imagery in their search for an identity with roots in the past."

And I already said all that shit in quotes pretty much. Nice job reading, I swear people are illiterate.

Is this better for you.

not the whole article but you can do a search for the shit yourself since you know all about that shit.

The style had started in Sacramento back in 1938, a car built with a hot-rod's lines, but ignoring that need for speed. Customizer Harry Westerguard slammed his '35 Ford to the ground with a spindle kit, then chopped the roof. The effect was aerodynamic, fast looking, and Harry didn't stop there. With the help of a young, local piano player by the name of George Barris, who had taken to hanging around the garage, Harry went even further.

It was a movie made in the 70s about the 50s cruising scene in modesto where it was filmed by none other than mr star wars george lucas. Yeeeeeeee. But to answer your question san jo.

from lowrider mag.'s history book....http://www.lowridermagazine.com/historybook/index.html, lowriding's roots reach far deeper into history than that, the result of two very different traditions, California car culture and Mexican cultura coming together in Southern California. Lowriding has always had a distinct Mexican flavor, hotter than hot rods and lower than customs.

Throughout many Mexican-American neighborhoods, called barrios, from East Los Angeles to El Paso, Texas, cruisers have been dropping Chevrolets to a sidewalk-scraping stance since the late 1930s. I

Heres from the wikepedia, the online encyclopedia.
"Norteños also lay claim to images of Chicano youth culture, such as lowrider cars, and of the Mexican-American labor movement, such as the sombrero, machete, and "Huelga bird" eagle, symbols of the United Farm Workers. At the same time that Norteños were first organizing in prisons and calling for liberation from the Mexican Mafia, the UFW and its leader César Chávez were folk heroes and symbols of liberation to many Mexican-American youth, including some gang members who had met Chávez when he was imprisoned for his union work."
