..when the person lays it down, before I even play it back for them, they should know if itz good or not.

If yer not feelin' it while layin' it down, it shouldn't be put down, No exceptions.

Like sum fools layed down tha beat, then said "I fucked it up, well keep it and lets do another try on another track". why keep the shit, when you know yer not gonna use it?

Personally, I keep everything. I don't always trust the ears of the artist, especially if I'm tracking r&b! The artist is almost always their own worst critic but the whole world hears them differently. What sounds like garbage to them might sound hot to everyone else.

Theres a big difference between knowing you fucked up and just not liking your own takes.

I've learned to trust my own ears more than anyone elses (most of the time). I'm one of those cats that as soon as I hear the vocals, I start hearing what needs to be done and what I want to do in editing, post-production and mix. I already have an idea of what the part will sound like in final form, usually before the take is done being recorded. Everyone I'm working with has learned to trust me on that and so far the formula's been winnin' for us.

i agree...thats how i feel about my shit...i don't like the sound of my voice, but everybody else seems to like the way my vocals sound after i record em...so i usually have 2 or 3 other people in the studio to let me know if it sounds good or not...

When I'm producin' a joint, I already know how it should sound, I have to be in my zone when I'm lacin' tracks. I have to feel the delivery and shit. Cuz If I ain't feelin' how I laid it down, it shouldn't even be kept, time to do another take
