Two suspects arrested after pursuit
By Times-Herald staff
SUISUN CITY - Police arrested two men after a vehicle pursuit Friday night, including a man who was shot in the head 18 months ago in Vallejo.
Robert Mixon, 26, of Antioch, and Orindall Jack, 26, of Oakland, were arrested inside a subdivision shortly after the 9:35 p.m. pursuit, which started near Pintail Drive and Wigeon Way. Police stopped the gray 1988 Porsche coupe driven by Mixon because it had no license plates and its lights were off.
As Officer Bill Lee walked toward the rear of the car, it sped away eastbound on Pintail Drive, police said. As Lee chased the Porsche, it did not yield at several stop signs and drove on the wrong side of the road, police said.
At Walters Road, the Porsche spun out of control and slammed into the curb after attempting a left turn, police said. Mixon and Jack allegedly ran from the car and jumped a soundwall bordering the Montebello subdivision.
The two suspects "scaled fences and ran through the back yards of several residences as officers followed in close pursuit," a police statement said. Jack was found hiding behind a vehicle, and Mixon was caught walking near Pintail and Harrier drives.
Both were booked into Solano County Jail.
Jack, a rapper who formerly resided in Sacramento, was shot in the head in November 2003 after a dispute between his friend, Benolter Gambles, and Gambles' neighbor in Vallejo's Blue Rock Village apartments.
The Vallejo man accused of shooting Jack and Gambles, Pierre F. Smith, is scheduled to be re-tried in August after a mistrial was called in November 2004 following a hung jury.
