Coffee has been around forever, so has soda. But I was at the store and this dude literally just had energy drinks on the conveyor. No gum, no meat, no vegetables, just No Fear energy drinks.

Seems like everywhere I go, there's new energy drinks and people drinking multiple energy drinks per day. I work at a place where we have tv's inside our office and the freakin 5 hour energy drink commercial comes on like 80 times per day, regardless of the channel we're watching.

There's been numerous studies and reports that say this crap is terrible for you, plus all the calories of most of them.

2 things, when did Americans totally run out of energy and just absolutely NEED energy drinks to get through their day and how long before there's some new strand of cancer from this crap?

i've been addicted to coffee since i was 16. cannabis and coffee are like peanut butter and jelly to me.

Introduce new chemicals into your system and you will gain a tolerance and will need more to get the same feeling. They do the same with pharmaceuticals, just another way to turn the masses into their knocks. It's frighteningly easy to do as well, in Japan, they went from basically drinking no coffee, to having a booming coffee industry from pure marketing and social engineering.

I see the same happening over here.
I see people with (seriously and I couldn't believe my eyes) half liter cans of these energy drinks still early in the morning.

People drink them so much I wonder what will happen to the energy they require natural from sleeping, resting, eating and exercising.
If you drink these drinks to long surely there must be something happening to that natural cycle, in which case you get more tired and then you 'need' to drink these energy drinks more and more. I can only see this vicious cycle.

Plus I really believe the shit they put in there can actually burn holes in your stomach.
Not to mention your teeth will rot straight out of your mouth because of all those acids and sugar.

I'm old skool I get my energy from food. And if I am really down on my energy I get some sleep or take some ginseng if I really need it.

A big part of it is that society has evolved faster than our bodies so that we are not adapted to the enviroment of 2010 but rather that 20,000 years ago.

The result of this discrepancy of evolution can be seen in a wide range of imbalances for instance fear of snakes but not cars, extreme alcohol intake, caloric intake, sugar in diet.

So our bodies today are adapted to living a physically active life (hunting, gathering, migrating, traveling, etc) while modern conveniences have made many of our lifestyles relatively sedentary.

In the same way, electricity has allowed us to alter our normal sleep patterns, and our work environment has eliminated the ability to take naps for the majority of us.

I mostly drink water or juice. Occaisionally I'll drink some tea or soda if I'm really just about to pass out at my desk at work. I work 10 hour shifts sitting at a desk all day so that doesn't help if my 2 sons decided to stay up and cry all night
water actually wakes you up too. people dont realize that! Anytime i feel sluggish, i pound some water and i'm good. Only time i drink energy drinks is when i'm on a road trip. other than that hell no. I know ppl that drink them everyday like water. I dont even drink coffee. never have actually.

My friend slammed 3 different 5 hour energy type shots, he said he felt like he was thizzing. Pills probably would have been healthier, meth filler and all lol.

It doesn't wake me up exactly but if you haven't had enough water to drink, you can feel more tired or sluggish so I try and stay on top of that. Most folks aren't alert as they could be though cause they're not well hydrated.

I've also noticed that gatorade has abandoned high fructose corn syrup for sucrose which is even worse. I think it tastes like kool aid now. I stay away from that crap too. I'm just tryin to stay on my water game. Most everyone doesn't drink 8 glasses of water per day.

Yes, because only in America and Japan do we abuse drugs/chemicals/vitamins/sugar/caffeine/chocolate/sex/porn/weed.
