Independent, aggressive and critical media are essential to an informed democracy. But mainstream media are increasingly cozy with the economic and political powers they should be watchdogging. Mergers in the news industry have accelerated, further limiting the spectrum of viewpoints that have access to mass media. With U.S. media outlets overwhelmingly owned by for-profit conglomerates and supported by corporate advertisers, independent journalism is compromised.
Ultimately, FAIR believes that structural reform is needed to break up the dominant media conglomerates, establish independent public broadcasting, and promote strong, non-profit alternative sources of information.

thats the first thing i agree with you on, too many one sided/money hunger minds pumping trash out, set to apease to the masses, sorta like the recording industry.

on the outside i would sort of agree too but if you actually go to www.fair.org you will find out that them guys are radicals that oppose in my opinion just to oppose. and in some cases just plain out make shit up (in my opinion).

i mean if FAIR founder (?? Cohen) is too liberal for the ultra liberal Ted Turner something is wrong with their beliefs

what's so radical about correcting the mainstream media??!?!!?
damn you waaaay too conservative on this, one thing that needs
to be reform is the media. they only care about $$$$, they
don't care if o'oreilly splits outs lies, they just care for the ratings.

don't you think?....doesn't matter of you liberal, moderate or conseravtive.
