whats wrong with my ps2?

nowadays it doesnt play most dvd movies with the gold uderside...piece of shit...it wont play my fave movies...it wont play casin or heat...my sis got me simpsons vol3 and 2 of the discs wont play at all.

about 6 months ago i bought what looked like a good ass porno dvd...only to find out it doesnt play, but the movie has the regular cd underside...

what the fuck is wrong with this thing?...do i gotta send it to sony?...do they ask for recepits?...and just curious.

say somebody was to "borrow" a ps2 from the store when it first came out...is there anyway sony would figure it out if it is sent in for repairs...maybe by looking at the serial number...my friend is in a bit of a jam with this.

barely plays ANYTHING...i either get lucky or i have to turn it over for it to play the game or movie

Take all the screws out, lift the case. There's going to be a ribbon connecting your pretty little lights and buttons on the front to the system inside there and if you fuck it up, you're fucked so just be careful when lifting off the shell. You'll have to pick it up, then tip the lift side over to the right and leave the shell upside down to the right of your PS2... You'll see what I'm talkin' about.

Then you'll need a small screwdriver to take the cover off the cd-rom drive. Remove that and use a q-tip or compressed air to clean out the laser. Before you close it keep testing it to make sure it works. My PS2 just flat out stopped reading cd's and I had to clean it a few times. Now it works fine, every time.

@ d locc...shit is a convenience though...playing both games and dvds...i lug it around w me everywhere thats why i would much rather get the ps2 fixed than buy a dvd player.

yeah,i made the mistake the first time taking apart a ps2 and not knowing what i was doing and and disconnected that ribbon cable on the underside of the rom drive,could never get that fuckin ribbon cable back together right,that ps2 is still in pieces in my closet

Believe me, if you buy a 25 dollar dvd player, your gonna have more problems with it than a PS2. You get what you pay for. Except when buying a $300 PS2, then you just get problems.
