Ankle weighs can help, my homie used some and he increased his leap by a few inches.

calf raises
squats
crunches (or whatever ab workout works best for you)
plyometrics

remember, when your trying to improve your verticle, you want to be explosive. so do quality over quantity every time. and the most important thing is to just continue jumping, which is why i add plyometrics in.

i did this twice a week for 3 months, gained about 10inches.

Strength shoes do work well. I also found success running up hills backwards, like a defensive back. Watch out for the weights on your body, been known to hurt the knees and joints. Abs are also a huge part of jumping. However, the most important thing is to jump everyday, numerous times. Despite all of this, if your only 5-10 and you can't dunk on the regular, I wouldn't trip off of it to much, it's only going to take away from your other game. Chances are you will probably never dunk on anybody in a game so who really cares. On the other hand I remember working my ass off to get some fucking hops. I wanted to jump high bad, mostly because it was a status thing. I'm six feet tall and have dunked twice. Remember that there are plenty of cats who trip off hops and not to many that trip off the other details of the game. Soon you will realize that kids who trip off hops are not that hard to beat, but I do feel you. Good luck with the season, and if you really, really, want it, you can get it.

oh and u no that

naw i can already dunk on 10 feet but jus one handed ive dunked many times it seems im getting a lil more hops jus playin ball and practicing dunking on my hoop at home i jus lower it keep putting higher and higher til it reaches 10,my favorites 9 ft cuz i can do any dunk from vince carter to kobe to todd macholic

all you guys talk about hops for dunking, what about better hops for rebounding, or shot-blocking and even your jumper. shit, its nice to be able to dunk in a game and all, dont get me wrong but dont focus on the it all the time.

yo, btw with the strenght training you do for your jump, will also build your quickness and make your more explosive. so remember to not only focus on your jumping while you train, but -all- of your game.
