Alot of my favorite mixtapes have come from So. Cal artist and I'm a mixtape junkie.....The best I heard was prolly Mitchy Duz It.....Mitch was a good up and coming rapper prior to that but moved to Gangsta Rap elite when that shit dropped....And stayed! That's my shit even to this day.

I would put this latest XXL Gunz up against anything in the mixtape era

also The Game Ghost Unit or whatever it was called
the WBALLZ Glasses Malone that was out last year
the KBoy Green Tape that came out at the end of last year
New West Vol 1 not sure if that counts but that shit went hard as hell a few years ago

I would have to say...86 in the mix I got back in the day. Many of them mixtapes in the late 80's had them megamixes that was tight.
