What music-medium format is used in the industry?

Like do cats bring a cd-r in to the lab to get mastered? Or DAT, or what? And then what does the mastered track get put on?

apprx 85% of the billboard top 100 comes from analog reel to reel.

dat,cd-r,or reel. whatever works for you. the master will be placed on what you want it to be placed on. if you are going to a pressing plant get it on cd. after the plant gets it they will make whats called a GLASS MASTER.

So after the mastered copy is put on a CD.. instead of going to a pressing plant.. u can just burn copies of the mastered copy yourself and quality will be as good?

some cd plants BURN whiles others STAMP. its a difference process so look into it.

why would you want to burn copies of the mastered copy? when you get your master copy have the facility give you 3 copies.

1 for listening

1 for duplication

1 for back up

if you have one master copy DONT risk scratching it or getting dirt and grim all over it.

im sure the facility can give you extra copies for $5-$50 a pop.

as far as quality being just as good thats up for debate. why dont you try it :classic:
