Hes touching on a sensitive subject but he is right in some respects, but since what he said had to do with race he is made out as a bad guy just so network television doesnt look like it supports anything he said.

What is the truth? That we need a Superstar quota system? If thats the case....

How many superstar Pakistanis do we need? Sign them up.

How many superstar Native Americans should we have? Sign them up.

Quantos superstars Mexicanos se faltan? Sign them up.

This right here is ignorance at its greatest. Just when we're making progress in forgetting racial lines, having more international players than ever....we have this idiot spouting off at the mouth.
you would be correct but your judgement is out of context, bird suggested that since alot of white people watch basketball, it would be nice to have a white superstar for the lonely white people to cheer on, if pakistanis or native americans were the majority of people who watch basketball then he would have mentioned them. not that that makes anything he said right.

Snub exactly right, but tadou knows everything. He feels so strongly on the topic yet he doesn't even know what Bird really said.

Does it fucking matter, you cockmonger? Even when paraphrased, i still understand what he was getting at...and it still sickens me that an NBA legend is making such polarizing comments.

Money talks, bullshit walks....if white people are capable of being superstars, they would be superstars just the same as any other race. Some are...some aren't. Some were...some aren't now. I mean, damn...is it not about HUMAN BEINGS any more? It has to be about RACE?

Where are all the people who would and have in the past posted "race doesn't exist" commentary quoting scientists and biologists? Your collective silence is deafening.
somebody mad.

Here is Bird's quote when asked if the question "if the NBA could use more White Superstars"

You know when I played, you had me and Kevin (McHale) and some others throughout the league." Bird said. "I think it's good for a fan base because as we all know the majority of the fans are white America.

"And if you just had a couple of white guys in there, you might get them a little excited. But it is a black man's game, and it will be forever. I mean, the greatest athletes in the world are African-American."

What sickens you about these comments? Please explain. He is speaking the truth when answeing a question. He did not hold a fuckin press conference and announce that the NBA needs more white boys or he is gonna boycott basketball.

It's more about culture than race, but it's basically the same thing, sadly.

Tadou, attempting to label me "dishonest" based on my lack of surprise at a white person saying a white superstar would get more white people into basketball...I don't know if you dispute that...or see it as some sort of conspiracy..but it's no surprise to anyone.

Then again you reside in a mental twilight zone...so I guess the fact that I am not outraged by this statement is very significant to you.

1. The majority of NBA fans are white.

2. Any group, be it Democrats, Bird Watchers, Handicaps, Table Tennis players, etc., will be more interested in something when they can identify with a protagonist.

3. Most white people have a hard time identifying with black people, and vice versa. If basketball was all white would black people watch it en masse? Fuck no. As a matter of fact black people themselves have stated time and again that they are even moreso in favor of cultural racial polarization than white people.

And as for prosecutors always examining exhonorating evidence...bullshit. When I got arrested for assault the cops also said I was under the influence of methamphetamines based on the fight I put up and my the way my eyes looked and the way they reacted to flashlight light...I told them i was very sick at the time, which would account for my strange eye behavior. Anyways, I got charged with assault and influence of methamphetamines....regardless of the fact that I told the cops I was hyped up and sick, and it was in my police report. Anyways I got cleared of that charge when the test results came back.

But in the courtroom the DA said I jumped over a car and tackled a police officer under the influence of methamphetamines like it was a fact, which it obviously wasn't. So don't try and play like all prosecutors are honest people.

OK....change sickening to depressing. "The majority of the fans are white America", what does stuff like that even mean? This is still just an underhanded way of saying "we should have a quota system in the NBA".
"Stuff like that" means that its a good chance the white population of America watches/follows basketball at a higher percentage than other "races" of fans. Where in that statement did you see an "underhanded" comment about a quota system?

Im gunna take a stab in the dark and say that there is probably more white basketball fans because there are more white people in America. As people, we are entitled to identify with whoever we want, but Larry Birds crazy theory was that white people may identify better with other white people. White people are able to seperate personalities from skin colors. Its like cheering for the lakers if your from L.A, the fact that its YOUR hometowns team makes it easier/better/more enjoyable to bask in the glory of their win than say, the denver nuggets.

I dont see whats wrong with his comments. He said that there's no white superstars in the league, most of the NBA fanbase is white and that it'll always be a black man's game...whats wrong with that? He's just calling it like he see it. There are some good white players, but none of them are on a level like T-Mac, Kobe, Garnett, Duncan, etc. Plus I agree, most of the NBA fanbase is white, but I dont think they have a problem with it being a black man's game. Thats because they probably just watch it for entertainment.

The same people who are up in arms about this alleged reference to a superstar quota -- I saw the interview and he said nothing of the sort, are the same faggots who expect everything handed to them thru affirmative action. You can't have both.
