LOL, i use to tag a lot back when i was in high school and there is no doubt in my mind that it should be illegal. Who wants there property tagged? Nobody does, and neither do businesses. It can be legal, but thats just up to the artist and where s/he wants to tag.

end of argument.

Tagging Private Property is illegal without a doubt. But government owned/ public property is a different story. If we pay taxes to pay for them, then why can't we tag them if we want? Companies pay to get their advertisements up which to me are just like putting up a tag. Im not talking about gang related graffiti, I'm talking about Graffiti Art. I dont think it's vandalism for someone to put up Graffiti art on a publicly owned wall, rather it's vandalism to take it off. Just cuz people dont have enough money like big companies to get something up, that doesnt mean they shouldnt be able to. Thats just how I see it.

if everyone was allow to put there advertisements any place at any time, that would be kind of chaotic. ALso there are art works (sculptures, etc) in many parks, and public areas. Why dont you find aa legal way to put your work up, like those artist did. if its too much money, do what other artists do to get there work recongize. Tagging on a building is not the only way, there's other ways too. i know in certain cities theres certain places where artist can tag, or sometimes they have events, etc.

i'd be damned if i owned a business...and had to wake to some scribbling on my property. its like getting pissed on. if i pissed on you..would you walk around all day so everyone could smell my handy work? artists have to go through the usual channels to get their art across...ghrafiti artists are of no exception.

I think it's a great art and should be celebrated. There should be designated places for people to get down and express themselves without having to hide from the authorities. Part of the intrigue in graffiti art is the danger of it though, and that's what makes it an outlaw's profession.

I dont' like all the gang tagging. That shit is retarded. But no one can deny how legitimate the art is when they see a fat mural that took hours to create with krylon cans. I respect that.

If you are writing about graffiti and don't see or haven't seen Wild Style, you should be shot on sight.

Most of my points have been said. I like the artistry in it, but like it was just said the gang shit is retarded with no creativity. I especially hate going to schools and seeing that gang tagging all over the schools. Kids should not have to look at that shit every day when they are supposed to be at place to learn.
