I love how people list shit on ebay as "rare" when these cds are on ebay weekly or their is even multiple copys of the same cd up. People still pay good money for these so called rares that arent even rare.

To me rare is a cd/tape thats only on ebay every few months.

To me a mega rare is a cd that has never or almost never is listed on ebay, a cd thats impossible to find anywere other then the town it was released.

Obviously a cd that has multiple copys on ebay isnt rare and a cd that is listed weekly isnt rare.

Its bogas as fuck when you think about it but people pay top dollar for anything that says rare, especially some of the more popular underground artists.

Well, you can have a rare CD...but you can't stop other people from listing theirs.

that's what the problem is...dudes don't pace their listings. If you see the item you're selling listed already, just fucking wait until it's done. If not, it messes it up for both sellers (most of the time).

Well, I was speaking more in terms of multiple sellers. Sometimes sellers come up on a 50 pack of some rare shit and sell it redundantly but most of the time you can find a cd that most sellers claim as rare but can be found weekly on ebay.

As long as dumb will be here to bid 30$ on a disc that you can find for 5 bucks there will be guys claiming that there shits are rare. That's as simple as that.

If I see something I want that is "rare", I'll check other outlets first, like maybe other websites that sell CDs or maybe even a post up in this forum. If I can't locate anything else, then I'll assume it's actually rare.

I guess I don't care what other people spend their money on and why. If you buy something thats listed as rare for the simple reason that it is listed that way then thats your thing. Thats like caring why someone lists something for X-amount of dollars, it doesn't matter to me. But this is a hobby to me, i buy so many cds i figure i would sell some stuff i come across and don't particularly want but know someone else might. But i don't take this anywhere near as serious as some other collectors do either.

IF YOUR A SERIOUS COLLECTOR IT WONT MATTER. U KNOW WHAT IS RARE AND WHATS NOT. AND IF UR GONNA SPEND A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY ON A CD I THINK IT WOULD BE SMART TO SHOP AROUND OR POST ON THE SICCNESS TO TRY TO FIND A BETTER DEAL.

a cd gets rare when the demand of it is just gettin bigger than the existing quantity of it.theres a gang of bay releases that dropped in big quantitys like 10.000 or 20.000 copies but gettin rare today cause shit is just too dope and the demand is way too high.it can be on ebay evry week or evry second week and still can be rare especially if its only a few sellers who came up on sum stocks..

Yeah, it is kinda funny how many sellers on ebay throws up an orgy of terms like rare, OOP, HTF, hip hop classic, extremely hard to find, OG in their descriptions without it being true at all. It is funny to see how many wack albums that suddenly become classics on ebay even though they initially were very local releases with poor production and non-talented rappers. but it's all a part of the selling game. You gotta sell your stuff, even though they water out the terminology.

I think one of the most popular terms to list a cd on ebay right now to try and get more money is the word "G-Funk". Some of the shit people describe as being G-Funk, is not even close to being G-Funk.
