In Samoa being hella big and fat meant you could go on long ass boat trips for fishing, trade, and shit like that. So the bigger and fatter guys could be out to sea and go longer distances, thus, the larger you were, the more likely you were to have kids, etc. and that quality was something to be desired and thus, people who were that stature were more successful in marriage, etc than people who werent.

after i left the PIs showed up to the spot with chainsaws, baseball bats and weighed 300 pounds. They put a random kid who was driving by in the hospital cause they thought he knew me/my friends.

You treat people like fam, even with no blood relations, and thats why you'll always hear, 'Oh...thats my cousin...' so much...



As far as the sandals/slippers...I can't speak for Tongans...but I know that in a Samoan house, you always kick off your kicks before you step in the house...so I guess its just easier access...that would be my best guess...somebody help me out...I can't be the only Hamo on the Sicc...LOL
