I just realized jim jones appears on hope for a higher power. That's quite the spokesman for "higher power".

For those of you who are ignorant as to who jim jones / jonestown / peoples temple agricultural project were....

On November 18, 1978, 909 Temple members died in Jonestown, all but two from apparent cyanide poisoning in an event termed "revolutionary suicide" by Jones and some members on an audio tape of the event and in prior discussions. To the extent the actions in Jonestown were viewed as a mass suicide, it is the largest such event in over 1,900 years of history and the largest mass suicide of United States citizens.

wow........ that's a trip.

I dunno if you can call him the "spokesman"

I was discussing this with a friend the other day and he thought the song was an attack on the belief in God. I personally believe that the song has less to do with God and more to do with Man. This song is more about the evil that is carried out in Gods name by man. So I thought the intro with Jim Jones was perfect because it was an example of how man can destroy lives in the name of God.

I agree 100%

"So when man destroys us the word might not stand so til that day I'm just gon' protect my fam with ammo"

People kept fucking with the jonestown "cult" crying about human rights and steadily fucking with them. until the congressman got clipped. They recorded some last words and drank the koolaid and made history.

That intro/outro fits that song perfect.

damn you just realized that was Jim Jones? I realized that when the sampler came out months ago, lol

and yes, it is a perfect intro and outro to the track (regardless of how annoying dude's lisp is, lol)... everything about Hope for a Higher Power is constructed and blends perfectly...

Yeah, just from the first verse you can hear that hes questioning mankind... questioning the bible... which was written by man. People act like everything in that book is so sacred, like it was written by god. Its all bullshit... just a way to keep the simple minded in line.

I grew up catholic.. and they almost got me at a young age. I remember being afraid of the cross with jesus hanging from it... I think that was the point.. to try and make you scared of what you didnt know. Then they fill your head up with all these stories from the bible.. trying to tell you that jesus loves you no matter what. LOL I recall actually saying to my teacher "well then why doesnt he tell me himself.. why be so mysterious?" " Well god works in strange ways" "Its gods will" .. Well if its gods will.. why even worship or pray in the first place? A simple human certainly shouldn't be able to mess up gods devine plan.. right? I say religion is a waste of time.. but if you need something to believe in fine. keep it to yourself

he's saying something about dying with a degree of dignity... all the times I've listened to it I've never heard anything along the lines of "Tech N9ne" in that sentence
