i think it has to do with the fact that theres more money in hiphop now then back in the wu-tang mobb deep era...they were grimey back then because they didnt have all that extra money to spend on shit after they spent their advance on creating the album.

Tha dirty south don took over. Yall some hip hop fans and dont see that shit? Plus tha East Coast are more focused on lyrics and beef just like tha West Coast. Dirty South just continues to do music and keep it music.

What happened is East coast rap stole from the west, and now everybody wants to be Pac. On top of that... the East Coast' sposter boy is 50 cent, who is heavilly on the West coast getting game'd up by Dre. The last time I heard anything from Wu-Tang... it was the Rza featuring E-40 and nem on a west coast sounding Rza beat. The Rza, who is the heart of east coast beats next to Primo, has spent all of his time doing scores for movies such as "Kill Bill" and others. That East coast sound isn't appealing if Jay-Z isn't using it. Nas tried to go back to it, but he didn't really fit into those shoe's like use to. So East coast music has turned into a mixture of of West Coast sound & Souther Flow. Look at G-Unit, Dipset, Rakim(was on Aftermath), Busta Rhymes, Eve, Nas, etc. There image is heavilly West coast influenced. I do wish someone like La The Darkman, Raekwon, Tracy Lee, and even M.O.P would bring it back. I remember wanting to go New York, just so I could mug a motherfucka in Central Park with my niggas from Bedstuy. That's a Cali nigga for ya. I bet they want to came to the west coast to see crip walking, smoke the bwst weed, and chill on the beach. They really think we ride Lo-Lo's! Only rich mexicans and L.A niggas.
