He was on the Orioles after that, and then had an injury like T. Davis but I think his was a deteriorating hip or some shit. I know he is still getting paid by the Orioles though. Ten of the best offensive numbers in baseball, and he should make the hall of fame.

Considering that the sportswriters vote on the Hall of Fame, and they saw fit not to give Belle the MVP when he had an awesome season and was the only player ever to hit 50 HR's and 50 Doubles in a year, I would say he will not make the Hall. If he does it would be via the veterans commitee. He was a great ball player, I think missunderstood by most.

I thought he was a helluva ball player. I believe in the end his relationship with the media and shortened career will keep him out of the hall. If he is gonna get in it will be down the road when some of his peers get a chance to vote. No way in hell the media puts him in. If he plays a full career they would have had to voted him in. The guy was intense and if you ever heard interviews from his teammates, they might have not liked him, but they all admired his will to win. I saw an interview with Kenny Lofton once, he went on and on about Belle and how hard he worked.

He falls into that Don Mattingly, Dale Murphy area of guys who at one time in their careers you would have thought they would be 1st ballot HOFers but injury or slumps took them out.

He didn't play long enough to get ther but he would have got 500 easy. He retired at age 33. Here are his career numbers.

10 full seasons plus 70 games his first 2 years

.295 BA
1726 hits
1239 RBI
381 HR
.564 SLG
