Alot of people on here post threads bout bay artist an there talent. Asking questions like can we, the bay, compete on a national level. I remember when things like smack an grindtime were playin a major role in measuring a artist ability to compete wit other atrist from different regions. We dont have anything like that to showcase the bays talent. Wouldnt u like to see A-wax battle the jacka or hear j stalin, messy marv, san quin, myself Icemeez an all other bay artist compete face to face leaving no doubt on who the better artist is. Just a random thought. Wat do u think? Maybe somebody should start up somthin like that for us. I would be down to compete

I think if those cats wanted to battle they would enter a grindtime battle like Lock did. They have bay cats on grindtime all the time.....Some of the rappers you mentioned battle song for song.I dont think a grindtime battle is really how they get down.Plus not all rappers battle. And not all rappers make songs either......

I think Taji Spits, (You), or Shill Macc would do good in grind time battles. There are alot of Bay artist that are on grind time that we don't hear about. Some got corny names and look funny but that's all a part of their sport. YES they are dope and will clown the fuck out of you so you got to be ready and take punishment!!! ! Battling is Sport, song making is business simple as that.
i agree fam im ready for wateva im confident in my lyrical ability. i would jus like to c more wel known rappers from the bay on things like this. if given the chance i would eat whoeva is in front of me. Jus gota be worth it. Im sure all rappers who really mc feel the same

battle/backpack rap has never really been able to cross over. look at locksmith. could be the best lyricist we have in the bay, and he is having a problem making a hit record. jin from rough ryders and mistah fab have spent years trying to shake the free style titles they both carried for so long to try and gain main stream appeal.

the bottom line is this, you put 2 street cats like jacka and wax in a "grind time" setting and somebody getting stole on. cause the artist you listed are more street cats then rap cats. the spirit of hip hop is not the first concern of 90% of people who pen verses in our region.

also, i feel like people who want to "battle" people are merely looking for a reason to gain attention off that persons movement unless its in a "grind time" setting. like why would e 40 battle d lo? what does e 40 have to gain from it?

i think rather than write "diss" records and gimmicky battle records, artists should concentrate on feeding their fan base with quality music. if you want recognition, do something you will be recognized and remembered for. diss records are a dime a dozen and battle rappers dont sell music.

so ill end my opinion like this. If you in this business to gain a reputation for "battling people" then make sure you ave a day job and say in school cause you will make little to no money. if you want to gain fans and make a mark on the industry make good music with consistency and regularity. let your fan base know they can count on you to produce great music at a high volume.

best of luck to all the aspiring artists.

i agree but thats the difference between a rapper an a artist, Somebody who just makes music an a mc. Me being a artist myself i feel like i have the mind of most artist. If any rapper out there feels like there talent an ability shouldnt be questioned shouldnt be rappin. For example soulja boi is the most criticized rapper out but if he battled lil wayne an destroyed him off talent alone an not a good beat to back him up or some good visuals to grab your attention he would gain alot more respect in this game. And 50% of this game is respect ( not a soulja boi fan jus a example)
