But I mean, are the wav files I render from my audio programs already considered Red Book, or is there a process that all audio must go through in order to be considered Red Book... also, am I mistaken when I say that every cd you buy from the store is Red Book?

The redbook specification uses stereo, 16bit, 44.1khz wav files for storing the audio data. Other specifications have to do with track indexing and so on. As long as your audio is stereo, 16bit, 44.1khz, you're fine.

All manufactured CD-DA's are within redbook spec, yeah. Basically, redbook is just a specification to make sure cd players and the actual cd's can play together nicely.
